suggested changes

I would like to include more content pertaining to: the background of the Tucson controversy, the reception of the documentary, and the aftermath of both the students (and Acosta) and the MAS program in Tucson (court cases). Also, I think there should be more direct quotes from the different sides of the controversy to make it more neutral and reliable. Proposed Revisions to the Article, “Precious Knowledge”

1.I’d like to add a background section to include a brief summary of the controversy surrounding the MAS program and the HB 2281 law. Given that the film centers on this controversy, I think it would be appropriate to include. This section would comply with Wikipedia’s criterion of addressing the main aspects of the article’s topic.

2.In addition, I plan to restructure the summary section to make it more concise given that it currently gives an overview of the film rather than providing a detailed narration of the events occurring in the film (scene descriptions). I’d like to include more quotes from the film in order to comply with Wikipedia’s criterion for reliable sources and for presenting a neutral tone.

3.Under the after the film section, I will be adding information regarding the recent court decision that declared the decision to shut down the MAS program unconstitutional.

4.I also think it’s relevant to add more information about the directors’ inspiration for the documentary and why they decided to name the documentary precious knowledge.

5.Finally, I’d like to add a section titled “reception of film” in order to discuss the film’s critical description by the Tucson community and by film critics. This section would coincide with the awards section in the article. This section would fulfill Wikipedia’s criterion for the article to be balanced.

My summary of the plot will be briefer than the first and more neutral, while still including few key examples. The “film release” section will be brief and will discuss the date/places it was screened for the premiere. Suggested Revisions

Revisions: I would like to work on trimming the information in the “plot” section. While this section is very in depth, it would be more compliant with wikipedia’s guidelines if it were shorter. This would include removing a lot of the long quotations from the documentary. I think it would be better to stick to summarizing events in the film instead of quoting what is said. I noticed that the lead section does not address why the subject is notable. In featured wikipedia articles like “The Boys from Baghdad High” there is a short paragraph in the lead that lists some awards the film won as well as telling the reader of the films high viewership. I think the lead would be improved if there was a similar paragraph for this page. One of wikipedia’s suggestions for film articles is to include a cast list. A cast list is missing from this article, so I think one should be added with important figures in the documentary While during research I came across some similar controversies. I think it would be beneficiary to introduce some similar cases in a short, new section. This would help readers contextualize how this controversy is relevant in the US education system.
