Athletes names edit
I began to remove the athletes' names from the lists. In my opinion they don't enhance the article at this point, since the athletes did not qualify for the Games personally, but secured a quota place for their country, which may be filled by any athlete who reached the required standard. Furthermore, all the other X at the 2012 Summer Olympics pages include no athletes' names as of now. --Phileasson (talk) 21:10, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- It's not the same in all sports. In some the quota is attributed to the NOC, which can chose anyone to represent the country in the Olympics, in some others, only athletes who achieved the qualifying standards can go to the Olympics. Only in case that more athletes achieved the standards in a given event than the maximum quota per NOC, the NOC is free to chose from among them. In some countries, there are additional criteria so not all athletes who achieved the criteria are allowed to go.--Nitsansh (talk) 21:56, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
