Talk:Pitting corrosion

What is the difference between pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion?

This article needs some serious work, and the attention of an expert —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cptcolo (talkcontribs) 17:46, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I tried to improve the page. Hoping it is a little bit better so. Shinkolobwe (talk) 13:00, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Emphasis on O
2
-rich environment
edit

I've noticed that this article has a great emphasis on the corrosion developed in a O2-rich environment, which paints the wrong picture regarding pitting corrosion. Pitting corrosion also occurs on O2-deprived environments such as the case of chloride ion corrosion, which is one of the most common problems affecting reinforced concrete structures place in marine and even litoral environments. -- Mecanismo | Talk 17:56, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

@Mecanismo: It is a very relevant remark. I also had the idea in mind from perhaps another perspective (the deep geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste) and I agree with your comment. I have extended the content of the page and also added a new section entitled Influence of redox conditions. If you still have comments, or ideas and arguments to develop, I will be happy to discuss them here. :-) Shinkolobwe (talk) 12:45, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
