Businesswoman? edit

Unfortunately, the article does nothing to indicate with what kind of business she is involved. Could someone clarify that? Badbilltucker 16:28, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why Sherman-Denison category? edit

Did George ever live in either of these two cities? Or is someone perhaps confusing Denison with her hometown of Denton, Texas? Emoll 22:09, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Agreed and removed, I can find sources for Denton, TX, TCU and University of North Texas; none of which are in North Texas. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomsv 98 (talkcontribs) 21:58, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Can't we say "Miss George" instead of "George"? edit

"George was Miss America 1971." Such a phrase sounds too modern to me, as if Phyllis George was a transgender person, but in the 20th century, beauty queens were still women. "George" is her family name, of course, but at the same time it is a male first name. So my suggestion would be: can't we change the article's writing style to replace every "George" with "Miss George" for gender clarification? 93.219.144.82 (talk) 04:49, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia! I understand your thinking, however biographies must conform to the style guide (see WP:SURNAME which states that subsequent uses must be the surname/family name without "Miss" etc preceding it. Hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have any questions! --- PageantUpdater (talk) 19:18, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Birth Name? edit

Birth name listed as Phyllis George Brown? Isn't Brown her married name? Was she born with her married name already affixed? Longinus876 (talk) 06:27, 27 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
