Led Zeppelin edit

wasn't he considered for Led Zeppelin's singer before they found plant? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.125.110.223 (talk) 20:55, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

It was the other way around! P.J. Proby used the members of what was later to become Led Zeppelin as backing musicians, when they were studio musicions. Together they did the album P.J. Proby - Three Week Hero, released in 1969. They called themselves The New Yardbirds then. On P.J. Proby's first UK hit single from 1964 "Hold Me", a very young Robert Plant played rhythm guitar, while Big Jim Sullivan played lead guitar. --Mousymouth (talk) 08:47, 23 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unverified disparagement edit

I have removed a paragraph that contains unverified disparagement (which I think can be verified, but at the moment is not) and a number of statements which are unlikely to be verified. Both WP:BLP and WP:V applies. It should also be noted an anonymous IP address has been adding this information. --Richhoncho (talk) 20:31, 7 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Point 1: I don't believe that wikipedia is supposed to discriminate against anonymous IPs. Point 2: I believe a lot of it can be reworded to not be as disparaging - it is the phrasing, not the content itself, as far as I can see. Can you explain what exactly is disparaging about it? Luminifer (talk) 22:30, 7 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Point one, please see here. 2. Calling somebody an alcoholic who spends all his money on booze without any verification is unreferenced disparagement in my book. I think there's little point in spelling it out on the talkpage if it doesn't belong in the article in the first place! --Richhoncho (talk) 23:10, 7 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Selected Discography edit

I'm no Proby expert but I am aware of some of the records he released through Savoy in the mid-80's and I find it bizarre to find no mention of a singer of his ilk releasing a cover version of Anarchy In The UK! Is this ignorance on the original compilers part or a selected editing of history? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.67.144.78 (talk) 20:32, 28 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Underage girls edit

Shouldn't the article mention that Proby has openly admitted having sex with 11-year-old girls? (92.7.28.137 (talk) 19:01, 7 May 2011 (UTC))Reply

Trouser splitting edit

'a notorious trouser-splitting incident'. 'a'? I have the idea that it was habitual. 86.185.221.209 (talk) 12:03, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

According to Bob Harrris (the DJ) on Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio4 today it happened at the first three concert's of the tour and Bob's father erformed the arrest after the incident in Nottingham. As these programs are archived we could reference it, but I am not sure if it is strictly an encyclopedic reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.26.0.162 (talk) 18:48, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

The text said trousers split across the knees: had this been so, I doubt it would have scandalised anyone. Japery afoot, I think. Changed knees to rear.

alcohol edit

I like Proby, so I don't want this to come across as "piling on" of any sort. But for sake of consistency, his alcohol problems per Focus (band) should appear in his bio:

Van Leer was sceptical as Proby was not familiar with the band and the singer was going through a period of heavy alcohol abuse. Upon Proby's arrival, Albers recalled: "He drank Four Roses whiskey the whole day, so much so that the nearest liquor store was soon sold out ... he always had the intention to run away"

And it's got a couple of sources.
