P.J. Proby edit

Hi

I noticed your remarks on Derek J. Bullamore's talk page. Just so you know that he's not picking on you I would like to refer you to WP:AUTO#IFEXIST which explains Wikipedia policy on autobiographical articles. Essentially subjects, and their agents, are recommended to restrain their contributions to comments on the talk pages, except in the case of egregious slander etc., to avoid conflict of interest. In the general way of things any information added to an article should be verifiable through independent secondary sources, and written in a neutral tone. Your edits contradicted just about all of these policies, and included removing well-sourced facts. If you wish to write a biography of Mr Proby you are free to do so on your own or his site, and independent wikipedia editors may well choose to refer to it - but otherwise you will have to play by the rules same as everyone else. Hi Wwwhatsup, Thank you very much for your explanations of the rules. I understand the articles have to be verifiable and neutral. I'll do my best to obey the rules. I didn't mean to offend Derek J. Bullamore. Keep up the good work! Mousymouth PS Would it be possible to add a recent photo of P.J. Proby, of which I have the copyright? It's also available as a download on the Press section of the Official Website, so verifiable. How would I go about doing this? Suggest it on the talk page? What you have to be clear about is that any material that you contribute to Wikipedia is released under the Creative Commons CC-BY-SA 3.0 License, which means that anyone can use it for any commercial purpose as long as they use the same licence and give credit - in perpetuity. If you are willing to go along with this, then upload the image and then send in permission as detailed here. Wwwhatsup (talk) 05:07, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Wwwhatsup, Thank you again for the information. I have uploaded the photo (P.J. Proby 2007.jpg) and I've managed to add it to the P.J. Proby page. Somehow the photo appeared inverse, as a negative, so I had to undo it again. Would you know why that is and how I can prevent this from happening? Thanks again for your help! I see it at File:P.J._Proby_2007.jpg. He does look a little red in the face compared to this one [1]. But Wikipedia just shows what you uploaded so it must be something to do with the original. You could maybe reduce it in size a bit and try again here [2]. Wwwhatsup (talk) 20:28, 31 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
