Second reference is a bunch of nonscientific climate denier twaddle irrelevant to the discussion and not providing a citation for the claim. Deleted, and replaced with a review article from Nature "Atmospheric carbon dioxide and the ocean."

what could be the possible solution to outgassing in Wafer Fabrication esp. lithography? Consider the possible causes: Thermal changes from cold to warm as a function of gas solubility, or microbial gas generation?

Disambiguation or editing needed edit
The article states essentially that outgassing is the emission of absorbed or adsorbed gas from an organic substance. Yet VOCs, particularly many types of plastics, can generate carcinogenic partial vapor pressure not because they have absorbed gas, but because they break down (depolymerize) due to time, light, and heat.
I'm not an expert, so I request that someone who understands this well add an appropriate article disabiguation header or else edit the article.

It's not outgassing, but rather... edit
What is the term for the process of a gas being forcefully expelled (intentionally or not) from a system? E.g., a nuclear plant vents some radioactive steam. You can't call this "outgassing", so what would you call it? Robert K S (talk) 22:39, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Point of order edit
Is it outgassing/offgassing or out-gassing/off-gassing? Meriam-Webster likes the hyphen, but a Google sweep reveals a great deal of diversity in this matter among knowledgeable sources. (I.e., academic and technical pages.)
