Talk:Naomi Ginsberg

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified (February 2018)

The discussion that was close at "no consensus" appears to be quite misleading. Indications of notability are not just below the borderline, but orders of magnitude below. The argument given (very clearly self-promoting) are base upon (1) two papers cited more than 100 times; in this filed there are tens of thousands of individuals with many more papers cited more than 100 times, with a tiny fraction of those having Wikipedia pages (2) a g-index of 25; most fellows of the American Physical Society have a higher g-index, and 300 fellows are elected annually (this person is not among them) (3) Receipt of a Sloan grant; Sloan grants are routinely awarded to junior scientists starting their career, and by no means are indications of notability (126 are awarded annually, and hardly any recipient has a Wiki page).

I think that such articles are insult to numerous scientists with hundred times more credentials that do not Wikipedia pages. Just to give you an example, Steven Kivelson is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has g-index of 196 and h-index of 70, and does not have a page. Igor Mazin of the Naval research lab has h=58 and g=149, and does not have a page. These are just two of my acquaintances, randomly selected. Mdina (talk) 19:27, 14 June 2016 (UTC)MdinaReply
