Individual Awards into Tables

edit

Now that we're done with the 6th season of the NWSL, should we consider converting the individual award lists into tables? That way they can be sorted and easily read. I don't mind taking care of that, I just wanted to ask for any thoughts on it in case anyone objected... Thanks! WoSoFan (talk) 18:53, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm thinking it'll look something like this...Any reasons not to go ahead and make the changes to all the awards?
Season Player Club Ref
2013   Lauren Holiday FC Kansas City [1]
2014   Kim Little Seattle Reign FC [2]
2015   Crystal Dunn Washington Spirit [3]
2016   Lynn Williams Western New York Flash [4]
2017   Sam Kerr Sky Blue FC [5]
2018   Lindsey Horan Portland Thorns FC [6]

No objection. I think tables are neater. But, why make it sortable? GrouchoPython (talk) 03:55, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
No objection either. But if we do go ahead, then I would suggest making a separate column for the nationality. If flag icons and player names stay in the same column as right now, then the sortname function would come after flags. Mightytotems (talk) 14:59, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Good call on the separate column for nationality. I think sortable is nice for the long term, you can sort by club and be able to easily see how many from each club have won. It might seem silly right now with only 6 rows, but as there are more it'll be more useful. WoSoFan (talk) 18:08, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Weight of voter categories

edit

The intro lists three categories of voters, but that no longer seems to be accurate. Fans also participate in the voting for a few seasons now. Should we delete this sentence from the intro and find the specific breakdown and cite them accordingly in each year's sub-section? Mightytotems (talk) 19:09, 18 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Split to individual articles

edit

Probably could be done boldly, but I'll ask for others' thoughts first. Separate articles for each award would be easier to link to. They likely have independent notability; i.e., each award probably gets independent sigcov ([1] [2] [3] [4] for Defender of the Year, etc.). Draft:NWSL Most Valuable Player – here's a mockup of the kind of detail one could include. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 00:58, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think this would be useful. The article was originally created after the first awards were announced in 2013, and most of the awards have a dozen or more years of history that deserve separate pages which is the form used for other leagues. Thanks for adding a voice. I've finished performing the split – some links still need to be corrected, hence the {{dab}} tag that lets DisamAssist be used. It would also be nice eventually to prettify this page in the model of List of NBA awards. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 20:15, 21 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Do not forget to fix the 23 templates with disambiguation links... The Banner talk 16:09, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good point, fixed those. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 21:00, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
