Untitled edit

The Battle of the Somme was fought in the summer and autumn of 1916.

Is 1915 correct?

Section called "Paintings" edit

@Coldcreation: Is there a reason why this "painting" section is still in the article? It's not adding anything and has zero citations. All clean up efforts were reverted without discussion or reason provided, please discuss. Jooojay (talk) 03:10, 13 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Jooojay: Why, for example, did you remove File:Moïse Kisling, c.1920, Le pêcheur (The Fisherman), oil on canvas, 82 x 61.7 cm, private collection.jpg? Why removed File:Pablo-Picasso-Moise-Kisling-Paquerette-Cafe-la-Rotonde-paris-1916.jpg? What makes you think File:Moïse Kisling, 1921, Nu assis, oil on canvas, private collection.jpg is a portrait of Kiki de Montparnasse? There is no encyclopedic need to add "Find a Grave". @Coldcreation: - you might want to check again - I did not remove those images, I moved them to the gallery because after removing the un-cited section it was causing a UI issue. Find-grave is for external links (not as a citation), thats why we have a wiki-template for it and it's on wikidata as well. I did accidentally removed one image (image of Moïse Kisling, Pâquerette and Pablo Picasso enjoying themselves at Café de la Rotonde in Paris. Photograph by Jean Cocteau, 12 August 1916), but I was trying to fix it - not sure why your blanket remove of new citations and etc would be warranted. The Kiki de Montparnasse reference was from the existing text under the "painting section". Jooojay (talk) 01:11, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Coldcreation: I would like to continue to clean up this article as it clearly needs help, but not if this is going to cause you to continuously remove my edits. Jooojay (talk) 01:22, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Jooojay: Best not to accidentally remove images or your edits will likely be reverted. The Nu assis represented in the image is not Kiki de Montparnasse. That said, feel free to improve the article. And rather than add citation needed tags, just add citations. Thanks. Coldcreation (talk) 09:02, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Place of death issue edit

The article had listed his place of death as "Sanary-sur-Mer" in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. However it had no citations. I found many obituaries, and all of them mentioned he had died nearby in his home in "Bandol" in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. I made the correction to the article today, based on these citations (which included the New York Times and The Guardian). However if someone is able to find reliable citations to support the place of death as "Sanary-sur-Mer", please discuss here on the talk page. Thank you!
