Why Mrs. Fiske? edit

Why is the page titled Mrs. Fiske instead of using her full name, Minnie Maddern Fiske? Duchess of Bathwick (talk · contribs) 17:02, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Good question, I shall move it back. Jezhotwells (talk) 15:27, 13 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Mrs. Fiske, "Love finds the way" - Zaida Ben Yusuf. LCCN2006677585 - Restoration, levels tweaked.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on December 19, 2019. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2019-12-19. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! Minnie Maddern Fiske (December 19, 1865 – February 15, 1932) was an American actress, producer, director and playwright. She started her acting career at the age of three, was taking on leading roles at sixteen, and was widely considered the most important actress on the American stage in the first quarter of the 20th century. She married the journalist and newspaper owner Harrison Grey Fiske in March 1890, and he directed almost all her plays thereafter.

This picture shows Fiske in 1896 in the leading role of Love Finds the Way, which opened on Broadway on April 11, 1898. She played an unhappy young woman, alienated from her family, who sought romance.Photograph credit: Zaida Ben-Yusuf; restored by Adam Cuerden

Spelling of the word Theatre / Theater edit

I hesitate to correct the spelling one way or another. Should it be US or UK English? We currently have both spellings in this article. Given direction, I would be pleased to adjust. Quartic (talk) 18:28, 19 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ernest Haskell portrait of Mrs. Fiske edit

It's great to see this famous image of Mrs. Fiske by Ernest Haskell included in the article. Please make the following corrections in the caption: 1. Haskell has two L's not one 2. Ernest Haskell was not Mrs. Fiske's cousin. He was a distinguished American artist who did many portraits of theatrical stars in his early career, this was the best known. There does seem to be a link to his article despite the discrepancy in spelling. Thank you! Ivy Chetwynd Ivychetwynd (talk) 01:58, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
