Hello! I just joined Wikipedia in order to create a new entry of a biographical nature. I have a technical question that I would like to address before I begin. Question: The photograph I am planning to use to illustrate my subject came to me from the library reproduction service in a very large file, 115 MB. Will I be able to upload this? Thank you Ivychetwynd (talk) 02:12, 23 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

For uploading questions, go to Wikimedia Commons and read their guide there. Provided the image was created/published prior to 1923 in the USA, it's in the Public Domain and belongs on Commons for easiest use. MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:40, 22 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
My understanding too is that basically all of his work (prior to 1923) is also now Public Domain and can be freely uploaded. I uploaded his self-portrait for you, but feel free to pick a few representative pieces of his work and upload them to Wikimedia Commons. MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:47, 22 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Abigail Aldridge edit

Hello Ivychetwynd,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Abigail Aldridge for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Hello Ivychetwynd -- I have moved this article to draftspace for you to continue developing it, as I think the subject could be notable. You can edit it at Draft:Abigail Aldridge.
What is most urgently needed is reliable sources for everything that you write. Articles on living people must be fully cited inline to reliable sources -- good sources include books, newspaper/magazine articles and similar. Reviews of her performances are necessary. Catalogue entries for her hats at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art would be useful.
If you need help with editing then the Teahouse is a friendly forum for new editors. Good luck! Espresso Addict (talk) 06:59, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
