Copyright problems edit

The sections describing the exhibits and the zones of the zoo are copied and pasted from http://www.memphiszoo.org, the official zoo website. The material needs to be re-written or is subject to removal. I could not find evidence of copyright violations in the recently added timetable. I did not check the images. doxTxob \ talk 20:11, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Almost all of that material was added by Unicurse, whom I suspect to be an employee there given his contributions. While I have no particular problem with this, it does need to be rewritten. My only concern is that he does claim the pictures to have been taken by himself, which may or may not be true. -- Otto 15:17, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't have any problems with the material either in the short term. Actually, when I first saw it I found it a pretty nice addition for the article. There is always the chance to request permission from the copyright owner (Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission). Maybe I can do that later this week. doxTxob \ talk 17:50, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have requested permission from the Memphis Zoo by email and I will update you on the reaction once I have it. I requested permission only for the material in the sub-section Exhibits of the Memphis Zoo, as the other material does not seem to violate copyright, according to my Google searches. As for the images, if the uploader stated they are his or her own work we must accept that. doxTxob \ talk 21:54, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have received permission from the Memphis Zoo to publish the material describing the exhibits. The permission was forwarded to the Communication Committee, OTRS, for archiving. It looks like an editor with access to the OTRS will tag the article accordingly. doxTxob \ talk 20:10, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Acknowledged and received. Daniel (talk) 02:57, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Expand with more info edit

Some information about the zoo itself wouldn't be amiss. For example, they hold several major events every year, some details on these would be nice. Information about funding, staff, etc, would all be appropriate. We have one of the best zoos in the country, a little expansion here couldn't hurt. -- Otto (talk) 17:58, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Giant pandas as zoo tradmarks edit

How are giant pandas Ya Ya and Le Le trademarks of the zoo? --Tesscass (talk) 20:34, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

The article's revision history indicates that statement was added June 4, 2008 by IP 66.193.225.40. Looking at the Zoo's web site, I do not currently see any animals featured by name as being "trademarks" of the Zoo. I'd be in favor of deleting the statement.Pinethicket (talk) 22:13, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Assessment (January 2012) edit

I think this article is now good enough for B class. It has plenty of citations, pictures, has enough info, and is well-structured and well-written. Takinzinnia (talkcontribs) 01:30, 12 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
