I'll add more of her bibliography, ISBN numbers etc. as time permits. Mahalo. Makana Chai 00:17, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposal do so a bibliography sub-section for books co-authored with Samuel Hoyt Elbert edit

Mary Kawena Pukui & Samuel Hoyt Elbert co-authored many books. Perhaps it would be good to work on a shared bibliography for both & include it as a sub-section in both articles.

Name spelling edit

The Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame gives her name as Mary Kawena Pukuʻi (with a ʻokina in her last name). Should we move this article to Mary Kawena Pukuʻi (with a redirect from Mary Kawena Pukui)? Peter Chastain [habla, por favor] 10:00, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think the correct spelling is Pūkuʻi. Also this--KAVEBEAR (talk) 15:12, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Kawenaʻulaokalaniahiʻiakaikapoliopelekawahineʻaihonuaināleilehuaapele edit

What is the source of this unlikely name? It was added in 2007 with no reference and there is still no reference; Google Books has zero hits for it, and the few regular Google hits all appear to be taken from this article. To my mind, it should be deleted unless there is evidence that it is real. Languagehat (talk) 13:55, 17 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also, the translation given does not include the "-ināleilehuaapele"; I can't really make sense of the "i" (it is a prepositional or object marker, neither of which computes here) but the rest is straightforward: "Pele's ironwood-flower garlands". 2001:4DD1:F199:0:41FC:6652:90A1:783C (talk) 02:34, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

(k) edit

What's the "(k)" after a couple of names in the article? —Tamfang (talk) 14:07, 14 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
