Why is this article called manager (association football)? Do American, Canadian, Australian, Gaelic or Rugby football have managers? —Wiki Wikardo 06:19, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

"In American sports, these duties would be handled separately by the head coach and general manager, respectively." In Germany it's the same. Maybe Joachim Löw has as much power as a british manager but in CLUB Football there is a seperation. The head coach can't decide about contracts and getting players for the club. He coaches and fields them. Contracts, organization etc. aren't made by the coach (german: Trainer) but by the Manager, Sportdirektor (sporting director), sportlicher Leiter (sporting leader) or whatever term. It differs a little from club to club, but a coach never does those tasks (except when he has a double position like e. g. Felix Magath at VfL Wolfsburg).
