Liberation Day

Is Liberation Day actually a holiday in Mali? The Mali Embassy in the US doesn't list that as a holiday, nor is it on [1], which is the source for Public holidays in Mali. A Google search for "mali Fête de la libération" or "mali jour de la libération" doesn't turn up any results to reliable sources. howcheng {chat} 07:45, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

Education in Mali Page

Hi there! I'm currently in the planning stages of updating the Education in Mali page. I just wanted to direct your attention towards my proposal in my sandbox. Specifically, I plan on splitting this article into 5 sections. In the History section, I plan on discussing how Malian education has changed since the end of French rule. Next, in the Forms of Education section, I'll discuss primary, secondary, higher, and nontraditional education in Mali. In this section, I hope to incorporate the existing information on the page. For the Literacy section, I'll detail the reasons and consequences of the low levels of literacy in Mali and post literacy initiatives. Next, in the Issues section, I plan on discussing Malian education issues such as how gender, geographic location, and disease affect educational opportunities. Finally, I'll end with a section about government initiatives to improve education in Mali. Please feel free to check out my sandbox for more information about my plans and an annotated bibliography. Let me know how I can improve these plans. Happy editing! Prashanth314 (talk) 00:14, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

Present-day Mali was once part of three West African empires that controlled trans-Saharan trade: the Ghana Empire (for which Ghana is named),

When I read Mali was "part" of three West African empires that controlled trans-Saharan trade, I infer an alliance or confederation of the three empires, but am not certain that interpretation is correct.

If the line is intended to convey that the Empire of Mali was one of three empires controlling trans-Saharan trade, it would be immediately clear if "part" were replaced by "one."

Which interpretation is correct?

Thank you for considering the question, and for your useful and interesting article. Calogera (talk) 22:09, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Last elections were when?

I'm astonished that there is no mention of the most recent elections on this page.Oathed (talk) 14:59, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

There's a problem with some numbers.

The percentages on the Ethnic Groups bit only add up to 99. Would it make sense to change number in the "other" category from 4% to 5%? After all, where would this missing 1% of Mali other then Other? Also it's bugging me.

Eros Adelaide (talk) 22:30, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

It's probably an artefact of rounding, which causes percentages to sometimes add up to 99 or 101%. It would not make sense to arbitrarily add a percent to any particular category. CMD (talk) 02:27, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Suggestion for section on science and technology

Hi, just a suggestion, many country articles have sections or subsections for 'science and technology', this could be a section on this article as well. The UNESCO Science Report may be a good place to start and can copied from directly using these instructions.

Outdated Globe

This is a minor issue, but the globe shown in the Infobox doesn't show the border between Ethiopia and Eritrea. —MiguelMunoz (talk) 18:56, 27 March 2022 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed this too. Hopefully someone more technically experienced will be able to change it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:EmilePersaud 00:58, 16 May 2022 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by EmilePersaud (talkcontribs)
