Talk:Lubrication

Recommend that Lubrication and Lubricant should not be merged.

Instead Lubrication and Tribology should be merged (into Tribology) and significantly expanded.

Tribology is about the science behind the Lubricants. Merging may yield an unwieldy article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by LubOlogist (talkcontribs) 02:43, 4 October 2006.

Agree that Lubrication and Lubricant should not be merged. The former should include different principles of and methods for lubrication, its role in preserving machinery (etc!) and so it. The latter relates to materials - their properties, selection for applications and so on. Bungo77 10:25, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The whole topic of tribology is being expanded and re-worked, so I think that boundary lubrication should stay so that the article on lubrication can focus more on the practicalities, while boundary lubrication, and eventually elastohydrodynamic and fluid film lubrication can cover the more nitty gritty theory.Gregzore (talk) 09:09, 21 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Definition and expansion edit

A couple of references from a Google search, many more ought to be used with expansion of the article. The citation might not be up to WP standards. Otherwise I also agree with the opinion above. LouisBB (talk) 18:46, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
