Ichiro Suzuki
editDoes Ichiro, or any other Japanese import for that matter really belong on this list? While he never played in the American Minor League system, he did have a considerable career in Japan's Pacific League. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wheasley (talk • contribs) 23:05, April 25, 2007
- I am not opposed to having them in on principal. It's really up to the community to decide. That being said, I don't think that is the intention of the article. A player who has professional experience at any level seems contrary to the intent. I made some adjustments to the intro and removed Ichiro Suzuki because of that. // Tecmobowl (talk) 18:00, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- I went ahead and deleted each Japanese player on the list who played for the NPB before joining the MLB (all of them, actually). Note that Chan Ho Park never played for the Korea Baseball Organization; he moved directly from college ball to the Dodgers. YLee (talk) 11:36, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

editwill be one of my new projects. I've already started working on it, and I hope it will achieve FL status soon. --Muboshgu (talk) 16:14, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Cuban players
editSimilar to the Japanese players, it seems to me to be inappropriate to include those who come from the Cuban system. Even though technically amateurs, the Cuban system is high quality and a place where players can reside for several years before defecting and joining a Major League team, so it does not seem within the spirit of this collection. Maybe a better title would be "List of drafted baseball players who went directly to the major leagues". Thus I removed Alexei Ramirez. Anyone who disagrees should note that there are several other players (El Duque, Jose Contreras, ...) who should then also be included, for consistency. Should Yoenis Cespedes be on this list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.75.41.101 (talk) 23:42, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
Ariel Prieto
editAriel Prieto shows making a professional debut for the A's in 1995 at the major league level; according to Baseball Reference he also played for Palm Springs in the independent Western League in 1995. This can't have been after he was drafted by the A's, and independent leagues are professional baseball. I think he should be removed from the list.
