I was surprised not to find John Locke, arguably one of the most influential political thinkers for the western civilization in the list of notable students in the version of this page for my native language. And on this english page Locke is only mentioned in the list of philosophers. In "notables" at the head of the page persons like Nigel Lawson and Lewis Carroll are mentioned, not exactly in the same weight class as john Locke, I would think? Should it only be fairly recent celebrityness that qualifies a person to be notable? Or is there some other reason not to highlight John Locke? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karakoima (talk • contribs) 06:22, 19 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Some recent back-and-forth here re Zar Amrolia and the redlinked article. A source was added [1] which indicates that he was Graduate Common Room president, thus an alumnus, but it still doesn't speak to any sense of notability outside the college. This is a list article, so although notability (by meeting our article standards) is implicitly grounds for inclusion, we don't need it. We do need something though. Just how much do we need to verify enough significance for inclusion here, for an unlinked name? Andy Dingley (talk) 14:40, 13 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Would a citation suffice such as [1] which states Zar "is widely credited with transforming Deutsche Bank from a currencies trading wannabe to one of the heaviest hitting banks in the multi-trillion dollar a day market" ? D Wells (talk) 15:40, 13 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
