Ange's name

edit

In the last UJmineko motion Ange's name was romanized as Enjye, shouldn't it be changed to the official romanization given by 07th Expansion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lotusres (talkcontribs) 15:42, 28 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

As far as we can tell, "Enjye" is basically the blunt romaji prononciation of "えんじぇ / エンジェ", nothing else. Since Ryukishi never wrote how the name is written with actual roman letters, it is basically up to wildguesses or plain transition with Hepburn. That is to say, considering how the japanese audience isn't really good at keeping the true spelling of foreign name, the margin of mistake is pretty high here. The only "confirmation" is that the character pictures for ange were named "enj". But that alone doesn't mean anything, as Ryukishi used "keiti" for Keiichi in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. As the other editor mentioned (and as we did), Enjye doesn't make sens with the actual name pattern of the Umineko cast. Most (if not all) characters have a very westernized romaji names, far from their plain "prononciation" (Battler >< Batora, George >< Joji, Rudolf >< Rudorufu, etc)

Little trivia: the japanese wikipedia list ange's witch name (エンジェ) as "ange", not enjye. Basically, it is not even definite on their side.

I would personally say "wait and see", but betting everything on a mere fanmade video and a ridiculously unreliable japanese consensus is not really a good idea, in my opinion. Klashikari (talk) 21:51, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

We finally got a e-mail from BT, and it confirms pretty much what we thought: 縁寿 must be spelled in romaji as "Ange". Feel free not to believe this, but I think we already proved our reliable info with the confirmation of the first support email, via the dengeki interview. Goldsmith and Battler Ushiromiya, the Endless Sorcerer.

edit

Shouldn't these two be under a different heading, other than Witches? Or shouldn't the heading Witches be changed to suit to something that categorizes for Witches and Sorcerers. I suggest the latter. They're male sorcerers, not witches. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.114.111.91 (talk) 08:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Characters descriptions

edit

I believe the fine line of "description" and "summary" was broken way too much recently. As much as I understand that some description needed mention of few events from the related story arc, I think it becomes totally against the purpose of this page past a certain treshold. For instance, Erika's description isn't about her character, it is plainly a recollection of everything she did back in Episode 5. It is borderline a thick description merged with an actual summary, which doesn't really fit the purpose of such page, I believe.

Therefore, wouldn't it be possible to make a certain overhaul for this page? there are a lot of unecessary details and description, which makes a lot of things redundant or hardly relevant. It isn't like it is about spoiler, but I think there is way too much there.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Klashikari (talkcontribs)

Ronove

edit

I haven't 'played' the games yet, but in the anime, episode 12, it is told, that Ronove is the 27th highest ranked demon. It's the same rank that the 'real' demon Ronove posesses. Is it right to simply say "he is named after ronove (demon)"? He is the demon, in Umineko at least. --TheDarkChaplain (talk) 22:35, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Battler's Real Mother

edit

When was it ever revealed that Battler's real parents are Rudolf and Kyrie and not Asumu? Is this an EP6 spoiler? I certainly didn't see anything like this up to EP5. I'm removing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.141.33.55 (talk) 15:23, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

New Characters

edit

I finally found who the 3 new characters. Ushiromiya Leon He is apparently Krauss' Son and Jessica's older Brother. Due to the relationship graph. But no connection? Van D. Wright. He's a relative to Delanor, and had been known to have killed 1000 witches. Claire Bernardus, and she's apparently Van's wife.

Right now, we don't know much of their roles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.96.217.150 (talk) 02:12, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Siestas' Armbands

edit

Is there any theory about why they have the Icelandic national flag on them? It's true that the symbol is generally associated with the 亜 in Maria's name, but nothing was ever said about that in the games, and really, they don't even look that similar…… Skizzaltix (talk) 23:02, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's closer to the flag of Durham, not that I have any idea what that would signify. -Seventh Holy Scripture (talk) 07:48, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Article cleanup

edit

I feel there is a severe lack of consistency in formatting and grammar throughout the article and thus request it to be cleaned up. User:Immblueversion (talk) 06:52, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Content Removal

edit

I have been attempting to remove inappropriate content from this page. There is a large amount of details listed here that do not fit with the Wikipedia guidelines on "noteworthiness" and "writing about fictional content". Additionally there are some details which are based on interpretation rather than fact, as well as a few that are outright wrong.

I have attempted to remedy this issue on multiple occasions but have had my changes reverted. I have already conceded that I was a little overzealous and should not have outright removed the information on Yasu, Lion, and Ushiromiya Beatrice. However aside from that I stand by all my changes as both necessary and beneficial improvements to the page. I do not appreciate slanderous vandalism reports, as any good faith edit is not considered vandalism. I am more than willing to discuss the changes I am proposing, if specific complaints are made about specific pieces of content I am removing. However, please refrain from doing complete reverts. I will wait a few days before reverting to my changes again and will take any responses made to this post into account. As I already said, I will add back in some of the content from Yasu, Lion, and Ushiromiya Beatrice's sections.Ctom42 (talk) 21:34, 16 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Since I didn't want to start an edit war (and ClueBot kept considering your actions as vandalism), I asked Juhachi to take a look on your edits. I trust his decision to approve your changes, so it's fine if you leave it like it is.--Sakretsu (talk) 21:56, 17 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
