I find it interesting to compare quarterbacks with multiple Super Bowl wins by their career seasons. Here's an old format that was used on a now defunct page (List of quarterbacks with multiple Super Bowl wins):

Single Super Bowl starts?

edit

Is there an article that lists quarterbacks with single Super Bowl starts? If not, why not move this list to a new name and include them here? john k (talk) 21:02, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Winning and losing quarterbacks

edit

Why in the world are the quarterbacks in #Winning and losing quarterbacks listed next to their college team and not the one they were playing for when they won the Super Bowl? Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 03:17, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

WP:FANCRUFT? NFL team would be more helpful.—Bagumba (talk) 19:58, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Can someone please add 2000 Super Bowl XXXV Baltimore Ravens won & Trent Dilfer was the QB Bdfree (talk) 23:50, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Fix the 2/3rds percentages for consistency

edit

Could someone with editing privileges please make the 2/3rds percentage consistent? 2 of 3, or 4 of 6, should be rounded up to 67 percent... but at least make the 3 entries consistent. So go with 66 or 67, but not both, on all 3.

P.S. Someone changed Brady to 67, which is great, but then some idiot changed him back to 60

List of quarterbacks with multiple Super Bowl startsList of Super Bowl starting quarterbacks – Recently, another editor proposed this, but someone else reverted. However, the rename seems reasonable as all starting quarterbacks—not just those with multi starts—are already listed at List of quarterbacks with multiple Super Bowl starts#Winning and losing quarterbacks. Moreover, per WP:LISTNAME: The title is not expected to contain a complete description of the list's subject. Many lists are not intended to contain every possible member, but this does not need to be explained in the title itself ... Instead, the detailed criteria for inclusion should be described in the lead, and a reasonably concise title should be chosen for the list.Bagumba (talk) 11:19, 26 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

So I moved this back because it would involve an entire rework of the article, since the section that lists all would need to be moved to the top, etc. Such a large change to an article should have consensus. Additionally the original move was done without a redirect which would have broken many links all over wikipedia (obviously this could have been fixed in other ways, just stating).
Looking at other similar topics, such as List of Super Bowl officials, List of Super Bowl head coaches, List of Super Bowl broadcasters, and List of Super Bowl champions, it appears that a move would make it more in line with the others. - GalatzTalk 13:51, 26 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I am relatively new to editing on Wikipedia, so I am sorry if I caused any trouble by attempting to move this article. I saw the "Be bold" article, and I decided to take your advice. The naming and layout of this page bothers me because the list of the Super Bowls should be the main focus of the article, with the listing of the quarterbacks who've appeared being extra information, just like it is in the list of Super Bowl champions article. I believe this is a reasonable request, and one that I personally hope is realized. I'd be willing to make all of the necessary changes to the article should the consensus be reached. PacchMann (talk) 01:04, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I do not believe it was incorrect to think to be bold. Like my message said, I agree with idea behind it just felt it needed consensus. Also just an FYI, try to avoid putting your response in the middle of someone else's post, it can make it very hard to follow the conversation. I have moved it for you. - GalatzTalk 13:00, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Column "Season" vs. "Super Bowl"

edit

While I appreciate that having the single year "Season" as a column is useful for sorting, most articles here talking about Super Bowls refer to the Super Bowl number, I, II, III, ... LI, LII, LIII.

I think it would be useful to either a) add a second column with the Super Bowl number or b) change the Seasons column to Super Bowl but add metadata so that the ability to sort on that column is maintained.

Oh, and if Season is kept, it should be in the format, 1966-1967, instead of a single year. Everyone knows the first Super Bowl was in 1967.

According to Wikipedia:WikiProject_National_Football_League#Naming_conventions it should be listed as both years, to avoid this confusion. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 18:24, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Kaepernick HoF eligibility

edit

Colin Kaepernick has recently had the "not yet eligible for HoF" marker removed from his name. My understanding is that he'd have to be retired for 5 years, which he has never been so far, thus he's technically not eligible for the HoF despite having been out of the league for over 5 years. (That being said, there's not much of a difference, because he's never going to the HoF either way... and I'm not sure what happens if someone just stops playing without filing for retirement. Does that ever happen, or do all players officially retire eventually?) KissL 12:07, 25 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
