Unreferenced entries

I referenced this list against the ODF web site. I then removed:

• Adair Tract State Forest
• George T. Gerlinger State Experimental Forest
• McDonald State Forest

These 3 entries weren't supported by the ODF web site, and I don't know where else to find citable support for them. If anyone can re-add them, with references, please do so.

Thanks for doing some legwork on this. The whole state forest thing is shrouded in mystery as far as I can tell. For whatever reason, the ODF isn't real forthcoming with information about them. I suspect some of them are mananged by Oregon State University, though. The Gerlinger forest was definitely a going concern at some point. It is listed in the USGS, though it may have been renamed or is under another jurisdiction now. Here's a pic of the forest's dedication in 1955. Katr67 16:41, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Adair Tract was renamed Dunn Forest and it and the McDonald Forest are managed by OSU: http://www.cof.orst.edu/cf/forests/mcdonald/

Discussion moved from redirected McDonald State Forest article

This is no longer a state forest, as you can see by checking out the Dept. of Forestry's website. Also, without any references from reliable sources this fails notability guidelines. Aboutmovies (talk) 08:21, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Correct. Suggest immediate Redirect and Merge to List of Oregon state forests, which is up to date as far as I know. See also the talk page. A fully cited history section in that list explaining the demise of the various state forests with redirects from the former names would be ideal. Van Duzer State Forest is another example... A suggestion to the creator of this article would be to work within the existing parameters, with the editors of WikiProject Oregon, and to improve the existing articles on forests rather than randomly adding forest info everywhere... Note to the person that denied the prod. I'm not sure what map we are overinterpreting, but stateparks.com is not a reliable source (it is woefully out of date) and if you check the ODF's website linked above, you will see that the drop down menu to the right with the listing "Your State Forests" only lists the five currently listed in the article. If you can find a reliable source, preferably from a government website, that states unequivocally that McDonald State Forest (in Oregon) still exists, please add it here. Thanks. Additional note to the person who removed the prod: This is what it is now and as Katr said, StateParks.com fails as a WP:RS, which is required for notability standards, nor does that site provide "Significant coverage", and yes, "Notability is not temporary" but that requires that it first meet the inclusion guidelines. Temporary only means that once that threshold is met, it should not be deleted because since then reliable sources have failed to continue covering the topic. So, again, McDonald State Forest does not exist (at least not in Oregon, there is/was one apparently in Australia). It did, but even The Oregonian archives (going back to 1987) and Statesman Journal (to 1999 or so) do not have any articles with that term in it. They do have articles for Mcdonald-Dunn Forest, going back to as early as 1994. There are five state forests in Oregon, all are listed in this list, no others currently exist.
