Trimming

edit

Remember WP:NOTESSAY. I've done some trimming today, but far more need to go I'm afraid. Snori (talk) 10:04, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Looks good to me. My own feeling is that the section on Community Support Donations could be substantially trimmed. I'm not sure we really need a long list of examples - the particular things that each Licensing Trust has done, or the projects that each has supported, might more appropriately be considered in separate articles, if the Trusts in question are found to be notable in their own right. To give an analogy: we note that churches engage in charitable activities, and sometimes mention what kinds of charitable activities they tend to support, but we don't include a list of what each congregation supports and how they do it. I'll be interested to hear your comments, and to see the further improvements you make to this article. RomanSpa (talk) 07:26, 19 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Licensing trust. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

What is "the village of Hastings" I just removed?

edit

Changed the first sentence for grammar, also changed "village of Hastings" to "village of Flaxmere", because Hastings is a city, while Flaxmere is a somewhat detached settlement or suburb on the outskirts of Hastings. What was meant by the original editor when they wrote Hastings?

Original:

"Flaxmere Licensing Trust

The Flaxmere Trust was the last of the licensing trusts established in 1975 and over the years has supported its low income community with wide-ranging grants to education in this village of Hastings. During the last 20 years, the Trust has given $4.7 million to the Flaxmere community."

Became:

"Flaxmere Licensing Trust

Founded in 1975, the Flaxmere Licensing Trust was the last of the licensing trusts to be established; over the years it has supported its low income community with wide-ranging grants to education in the village of Flaxmere. During the last 20 years, the Trust has given $4.7 million to the Flaxmere community." Ken K. Smith (a.k.a. Thin Smek) (talk) 14:50, 14 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

There are lots of links that could be placed in here, especially for New Zealand places. I think all of these Trust location would probably have their own article by now.

It would be great to see de-establishment dates for the discontinued Trusts.

Thank you to anyone who helps! Ken K. Smith (a.k.a. Thin Smek) (talk) 15:44, 14 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
