Since 1976, the official name of the city and munipality, as well as the province, is "Las Tunas" (whitout "Victoria de.."). The change has political implications since the wording "Victory of.." is related to a victory of spanish forces over the Cubans during the Cuban Independence war, that took place in this town (previosly kown simply as "Las Tunas"). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.55.142.140 (talk) 16:46, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

– Las Tunas the city is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Would be consistent with other Cuban city/province pairs such as Matanzas/Matanzas Province, Cienfuegos/Cienfuegos Province, etc... 162.208.168.92 (talk) 20:44, 4 March 2021 (UTC) Relisting. ~ Aselestecharge-paritytime 05:00, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I object, and moved it back. No rationale for a primarytopic grab was presented. Dicklyon (talk) 18:57, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

There are 4 other links at the dab page:
Two are sports teams in Las Tunas city
One is Las Tunas Province, which, as shown, has its WP:CONSISTENT title at Las Tunas Province
and the last one is a ghost town in the United States with no notable history.

So I don't think that it's out of line here to say that Las Tunas city is the primary topic. Here is a graph. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 20:25, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

And here is a better graph that makes it clear that Las Tunas (city) is not getting the majority of the pageviews (choose chart type Pie, which doesn't seem to persist in the URL). Dicklyon (talk) 00:25, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
While WP:PRIMARYTOPIC considers usage as a factor, it also considers long-term significance, which would favor the city. I'd also add that the baseball team should be moved to Leñadores de Las Tunas (Baseball Reference) as it is customary to use the team name as an article title. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 03:39, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sure, but it's a stretch to now claim long-term significance, which was not in the original proposal (which was only about consistency), over the province, the California city, etc. The case is very marginal, and disambiguation is generally better when there's not a strong primarytopic case. Dicklyon (talk) 05:10, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Honestly, I didn't expect any objections, and I shouldn't have made that assumption. But yes, the provincial capital, a major city in Cuba, which has two sports teams named after it, which has the whole province named after it, does seem to have a claim to long-term significance. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 15:13, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Aseleste, thanks for reverting the close and relisting. Dicklyon (talk) 04:57, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose – Adding ambiguity via a primarytopic claim is not usually a good idea. In this case, the proposed primarytopic gets less than a majority of the pageviews of the topics on the disambig page, and no rationale was presented for why it should be primarytopic. I think disambiguation is the better option here. Dicklyon (talk) 04:57, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
As per above, the city is primary topic in regards to long-term significance; in fact, most of the other articles in the dab are named after it. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 15:08, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
