Copyvio edit

The plot section is copied verbatim from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816556/plotsummary --Ghirla-трёп- 08:51, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it looked familiar to me, as well. I was looking for a complete summary and went to several websites, which all seem to use the exact same wording. Of course that doesn't mean Wikipedia should just copy stuff, though. Btw., imdb says its plot summary is written by Georgie Nevile. --95.34.1.57 (talk) 00:06, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Documentary Style edit

This is an incredible movie that is presented in the "mockumentary" style, such as Spinal tap, yet with horror instead of comedy. I find it odd that article doesn't mention this. So I am going to rectify that small descriptive problem right now.SpencerCollins (talk) 14:35, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Small Change edit

She didn't see her own ghost, she saw her doppelgänger, which generally is always a portent of imminent demise in folklore. Capeo (talk) 19:18, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cleaned up and removed tags. edit

I removed all the tags thinking after my bit of expansion it's well cited for what it claims. If anyone has any concerns feel free to revert. I made some changes to the plot as well before noticing the copyvio concerns stated above. Don't have much time now but I'll look it over again soon to make sure what's left isn't just a cut and paste from another sites synopsis. Capeo (talk) 03:36, 3 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Commas edit

Those are not run on sentences. If they were the proper way to fix them would be to break them into two or more sentences not add commas. If you think they could be written differently then propose something but adding commas all over does not make them easier to read. Capeo (talk) 18:18, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand why the commas I have been adding to the production section for ease of reading keep being removed? For example, just try reading this sentence with no commas aloud: "After discussions with what would be future collaborators on Lake Mungo the decision was made to write something that could be filmed on a low budget." Now with the comma: "After discussions with what would be future collaborators on Lake Mungo, the decision was made to write something that could be filmed on a low budget." Another one: "When asked what inspired the script Anderson has said 'I don't think it's a supernatural thriller. I think it's meant to be an exploration of grief' while also citing a curiosity as to how 'technology is used to record people's lives and sort of tracks memories, and how technology mediates a lot of our experiences'." Here's the sentence with the comma "When asked what inspired the script, Anderson has said 'I don't think it's a supernatural thriller. I think it's meant to be an exploration of grief,' while also citing a curiosity as to how 'technology is used to record people's lives and sort of tracks memories, and how technology mediates a lot of our experiences'." So in my opinion the commas are an improvement; they break up long sentences and allow you to breathe. So I ask: how is the addition of just a few commas harmful/unnecessary? This is too minor and silly an issue to edit war over, but I was under the impression that placing commas in sentences where one would naturally pause was the grammatically correct thing to do.Sro23 (talk) 18:33, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Also, this is not meant to insult or attack you in any way (I think you did a great job expanding the production section), but the examples I give fit the description of run-on sentences, and they can be easily remedied with the addition of commas/other forms of punctuation. I just don't understand why commas are suddenly problematic. Sro23 (talk) 18:52, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
The more I read it (and refresh myself on proper comma usage) I mostly agree. I think your first sentence example is spot on and should be changed as you suggest. I think this: "When asked what inspired the script Anderson has said 'I don't think it's a supernatural thriller. I think it's meant to be an exploration of grief' while also citing a curiosity as to how 'technology is used to record people's lives and sort of tracks memories, and how technology mediates a lot of our experiences'." Should be broken into two sentences. "When asked what inspired the script, Anderson has said, 'I don't think it's a supernatural thriller. I think it's meant to be an exploration of grief.' He also cited a curiosity as to how 'technology is used to record people's lives and sort of tracks memories, and how technology mediates a lot of our experiences'." In the first one there should be a comma before the quote. The second quote shouldn't have one as it's a continuation of the sentence structure. At least according the rules on comma usage I'm reading. Sorry if I'm being OWNish. This article is really the only one on WP that I mostly wrote. I saw a bunch of commas added and didn't look deeply enough into the situation. I agree those sentences don't read well. Feel free to adjust as you see fit. Capeo (talk) 18:57, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I understand. I'd be lying if I said I've never done the same thing on articles I've written most of myself in the past. I reviewed your sentence split and agree appears to follow grammar logic. Sro23 (talk)
I undid my last revision. Comparing the commas you added to rules on comma usage they were all correct. I then split the sentence. If you see any further improvements please make them. Apologies again for being rash. Capeo (talk) 19:38, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
