Student essay of dubious merit edit

This is a student essay (see User_talk:Kyodaiteeter#Student_projects.3F) As far as I can see, this is just a branding exercise, and it is not clear that it is sufficiently notable for an encyclopedia. Should it just be deleted? Or should I start by translating the title into English? ("Kyoto vegetables"). Imaginatorium (talk) 08:28, 13 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Nice catch there. Yes, this reads much like an essay, and it's very badly translated into English (and I took the liberty to remove many vox nihilae and such, too)...there really is no use for this article, for I can't think of many a person who would care to get a mouthful of exotic vegetables when browsing Wikipedia. But it still is informational, no matter the tone--which can be resolved, by the bye, with a few edits--and information that isn't stupid and useless (ex: an article entirely devoted to my Christmas stocking) should have the right to stay. So it reads like an essay? Edit some things! It's good information. Now I know more about Kyoyasai. Das Pigtalk 20:25, 28 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
You know what, I myself am starting to get doubts about this page. Let me just post a Notability tm on this page, let's see if that'll cover this. Das Pigtalk 20:42, 28 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

I arrived at this page while searching for the "Kyo-yasai", which is a cultural as well as commercial institution in Japanese heritage, in culinary and tourism circles in Japan, a matter of pride known to many Japanese, and one of the holy grails of vegetarian gourmets there and abroad. It involves the cultivation and consumption of a specific group of heirloom vegetables which have been around for many centuries. It would be great if the article were polished up and validated. I made some grammatical improvements to start with. If anyone from the Japan portal wants to try and help sort out this article, it would be appreciated.
