Independent park or a part of the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park?
editWhat is the relationship of this park to the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park? Google Maps do not find "Karian Shola National Park", so I wonder whether it still exists as an independent entity. Currently the coordinates provided in the article are for the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park. Maybe these articles should be merged? - @Micromesistius: Having just expanded this article, I added the coordinates because they were mentioned in this source, but they apply to the whole of the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. It would seem from the source that there are three national parks within the sanctuary. It states "It was notified as a sanctuary in the year 1974. 108 sq.kms of its unique habitats at 3 places - Karian Shola, Grass hills, Manjampatty were notified as National Parks in 1989." Each of these national parks, Manjampatti Valley, Grass Hills National Park and Karian Shola has a Wikipedia article and I see no reason to merge them into the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park article. However, I will add a bit more to the article explaining that this park is part of the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:57, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
- The page you mentioned does not really make clear whether they still exist as independent units. I am inclined to think that they have ceased to exist, because they are not listed under "National parks" on the left. Also protectedplanet.net does not recognize Karian Shola (nor the other two), whereas Indira Gandhi NP is listed. If my interpretation is correct, I think the best solution would be to merge all these into the Indira Gandhi NP article — but before taking up that discussion, the facts should be clarified.
