Contested deletion edit

This page should not be speedily deleted because it is not substantially identical to the previous deleted version. A lot of new sources supporting Kai Cenat's passing of WP:GNG have appeared since the last deletion discussion which could've been verified with a quick source check. A lot of the most important sources in this new version are dating after the last deletion discussion. If you do not agree that Kai Cenat is notable, the deletion of the article should instead be suggested via a new AfD discussion instead of a speedy deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Célestin Denis (talkcontribs) 17:15, 29 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

MW2 racist incident edit

I don’t think the Modern Warfare 2 n-word thing is worthy enough of being on the article. Plenty of articles by online-culture focused wesbites like Dot Esports, Kotaku, and Dexerto come out every day covering others like Xqc, but not every single one is added to his page. This one seems very minor and could be replaced by something more news worthy or just removed. Tankpiggy18 (talk) 19:18, 4 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Article improvements edit

Removed the racist incident and a lot of random info and tidbits that were probably added from Dexerto. Should look more like a regular streamer's page now. Sed8ddd (talk) 01:05, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Name edit

His name is Kai, not Kailen or Kailer Xvixvi (talk) 16:30, 3 January 2023 (UTC) BLASPHEMY!~ HE IS LYING, DONT LISTEN TO THE MAN! HIS NAME IS KAILEN! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaythesigmaslay (talkcontribs) 23:24, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Suffix in his name edit

I've removed this twice but it has returned every time despite there being no reliable source of him having a suffix in his name. To avoid an editing war, I thought it'd be worth bringing up here. I don't watch or keep up with him so if he does have a suffix, I apologise. However, a reliable source needs to be added - Sportskeeda and 'snkrdunk.com' doesn't count, especially the latter as it was posted on March 29th when the questionable suffix was still present. Kai Cenat giveaway situation at Union Square NYC edit

Currently news channels are covering an ongoing situation during a giveaway hosted by Cenat at Union Square in New York City. Here is an article from CBS New York: https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/large-crowd-gathered-at-union-square-seen-hurling-objects/ Should this event be added once more information comes out or is it simply not worth it? Wof8317 (talk) 20:54, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Wof8317 Are you kidding me? I'd be surprised if a small Wiki page on the riot wasn't generated. SpicyMemes123 (talk) 21:09, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
They already added info on this situation in the article section below. Rager7 (talk) 02:57, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

This is significant white oppression edit

This entire situation reeks of white privilege. Why do we have a modern day Gestapo arresting peaceful protesters and now arresting a luminary that was going to provide gaming consoles to the underprivileged? 73.84.149.78 (talk) 02:16, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

We don't have a modern day gestapo, and if we do then boy is this a bad example of that.
There is no white privilege there, many among the arrested were white and this situation happens for other white people where their audience becomes unruly. It's about the audience / Kai's audience in this case because when they turn violent, the police are of course charged with finding the cause and suppressing it and that cause is Kai Cenat's audience being too big for the planned event and going out of control which Kai is responsible for as the planner. Kai has apologized and has himself condemned the actions of the kids in the audience causing trouble, white and black.
There are no protestors there either, peaceful or otherwise. Remember they were there for the giveaway and to meet Kai, not to protest anything.
Anyone with enough time to spend online watching streamers would not be underprivileged, it is overprivileged people who have that kind of time to spare. His audience are kids which explains a lot about the behaviour and how they find the extra time to spend watching a streamer. MithosAurelius (talk) 21:03, 11 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Voice recording edit

Do we really need a 16 second recording of this guy screaming on the article? PrecariousWorlds (talk) 12:14, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Agreed — especially a low quality, censored recording, in which overlapping voices make his difficult to identify. Voice samples are already uncommon, and I don't see a rationale for including this particular one here. 2600:1700:87D3:3460:917D:D4E0:9CA4:9277 (talk) 21:10, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Best Buy mention edit

"The New York Police Department (NYPD) mobilized forces in the area as a large group swarmed a Best Buy in the area."

I don't have a specific edit in mind (hence the absence of a formal request), but of all aspects of the Union Square event, the Best Buy part strikes me as the least important to include in such an already concise section. The longer article on this event notes that the Best Buy was only one of several stores forced to close early, and mentions of it are far from unanimous among sources.

Switching that clause out for something like "as police on the scene and some members of the crowd began to engage in conflict" feels like an improvement. Thoughts? 2600:1700:87D3:3460:917D:D4E0:9CA4:9277 (talk) 21:06, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

adding to the union square "riot" edit

Update on the situation is that kai has been charged with multiple counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly. They also have been released from police custody Kromabonethagod (talk) 00:53, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Edit request to update charges edit

Additional charges have been reported—here's[1] one reliable source—and the relevant sections here need updating. Also, "arrested" in the second part below should be changed to "charged", as he was promptly released from custody.

In the intro:

Cenat was taken into custody by the New York Police Department and charged with inciting a riot and unlawful assembly.
+
Cenat was taken into custody by the New York Police Department and charged with first-degree rioting, inciting a riot, and unlawful assembly.

Under the "Union Square giveaway riot" section:

Cenat was arrested by the NYPD for inciting civil unrest; police also made dozens of other arrests.

I'd like to second the second change as well. The sources do not say "inciting civil unrest" - if the article is going to mention his charges, it can at the least be kept accurate with what he's actually been charged with thus far. 107.9.243.114 (talk) 20:38, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Pls include that Kai has a scene in the good burger 2 movie. Proof is that you can see him in the trailer. He is also in NLE Choppas Nightmare on CottonWood short movie which is available on many platforms for viewing. These should also be listed under “ Filmography” on the page. Also, please change the spelling of his sisters name from Kaia to Kaiya. Her IG is kaiyacenat which has the correct spelling of her name. 64.82.131.99 (talk) 21:20, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

change 12th Streamer Awards to 2nd Streamer Awards. MortalKomic (talk) 22:02, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Good catch. The article doesn't appear to have a reliable source for Cenat having won that award. Instead, sources are from before the award when he was nominated. Pending better sources, I have removed the The Streamer Awards from the lead. Better sources would also help establish that this award is significant enough for the lead of the article. Grayfell (talk) 01:20, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I meant Streamy Awards. Sources do mention that he won a Streamer Award, and they do mention it was the 12th such award. These are two different awards. Grayfell (talk) 01:23, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

Might be good to add that Kai signed to Night Media in August 2023. I think it's worthy of an inclusion due to it's proximity to MrBeast and a notable career movement.
