Greetings!
This talk section is being created alongside my latest reverts to edits that removed most references to her public image as JubyPhonic.
Juliet Simmons may have been added to Wikipedia as a voice actress for anime roles, but if we're going to cover what makes this person notable, her image as JubyPhonic is, I would argue, just as important. A lot of her public profile and identity revolves around this, from her Twitter handle using this name, to her own bio and professional website spending substantial, if not equal, focus on this. She has over 400,000 followers on YouTube, and although it's likely that a lot of her followers may know her as also a voice actress, she gained a following on her channel before she even became a voice actor. I would argue it's more than a hobby as well, due to the fact that she receives payment from doing this work, at a high enough amount that she could possibly just do this full-time if she so wished to. Nearly every interview with her also mentions her YouTube channel. As well, the information in there was all sourced, although I'll admit there was a bit more reliance on primary sources. For future edits, we may wish to cull back the smaller details in the JubyPhonic section.
In my mind, if a Wikipedia article is going to cover a subject, it should cover all aspects of that subject, not just the aspect that placed that subject on Wikipedia in the first place. Obviously, with the subject being a living person, we need to be a bit more stringent about what should be included on such an article, making sure that what is added is really part of this person's public life. However, I feel there really shouldn't be much doubt that this JubyPhonic identity is a major part of her public life and what makes her notable. Thus, it should be a part of her article if we are really going to have this article on her here. JaykeBird (talk) 21:15, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
You're missing the point. Wikipedia requires coverage by secondary sources independent of the subject, so you can't use blogs, official website, convention writeups or youtube channels to show notability. Please read WP:GNG. If you can find such sources that place her Youtuber occupation more than her voice acting occupation in notability, such as newspaper articles, then please include it. Otherwise it's considered a non-professional hobby. Is her Vocaloid stuff professionally released? Please read WP:SOUNDCLOUDBAND to make sure she's not fallen into that category. I took a step back, and read through the policies you provided. I'll concede that in the eyes of secondary sources out there, there's more (honestly, only) information about her as a voice actress. I'll not push so hard for article content about her JubyPhonic work then, but I would still think having the name of her YouTube channel is still something that should be in the article (for searching purposes, and being complete with the information here).
It still feels a bit weird for her YouTube channel and such things to just be denoted "Personal life" in the same vein as some other person's recreational hobby, but I'm not coming up with a better suggestion at the moment. (To be fair, it probably did start as a recreational hobby, although she now makes a decent amount per song.) JaykeBird (talk) 09:01, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
In a side-note, completely unrelated to this discussion, I feel like you, AngusWOOF, have it out for Vocaloid or something, or her singing covers of it? I don't really wish to start a discussion on such a thing (at least, not here), but it's simply something that I get the vibe for through your actions on this page. JaykeBird (talk) 09:01, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I wanted to make sure that it's sourced okay. I had worked on voice actor Cristina Vee's article for a while and she was a YouTuber in her singing career as well, but that section was harshly criticized and reduced as only her own web page and sources connected to her were the only ones provided. If you can provide more information on her background, that would help get it integrated into her biography, perhaps the YouTuber work is how she got discovered for voice acting? Did she attend some anime conventions and sing at events? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 13:41, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
@AngusWOOF: Okay, that's understandable. I didn't know about your history with the Cristina Vee article; it seems you've been through all of this before lol. I can understand where you're coming from now. :) I haven't really worked on this article since (as you can probably tell) or even really contributed much to Wikipedia recently, but if I find something in the future (like the things you've suggested), I'll add that in if I can. Sorry if I disrespected you at all, AngusWoof, I should know through past experience to trust in you more than I had. JaykeBird (talk) 07:12, 25 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
