- Castle Wolfenstein, released in 1981, predates it by several years. It depends how you define "shooter". Off the top of my head Eagle's Nest was the first WW2-themed Gauntlet clone, but that's a very narrow field. It was the first game I remember that had realistically invisible hitscan-style bullets, if that's any distinction. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 19:12, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
