Sentence edit

I found this sentence a little bit confusing for the average reader:

The Internet is widely but not universally used in the United States. Access is available in a variety of forms.

IIRC Time Warner recently bought out Comcast and the two companies merged. Should the article and the chart data be edited to reference that?
