State of Illinois? edit

Shouldn't the official name of Illinois be the "State of Illinois"?

Chicago Bandits listed as active sports team edit

The NPF league folded in 2021, the teams page reflects this information correctly. This should be moved to former sports teams. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Bandits GuitarCigarMan (talk) 16:13, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 21 November 2023 edit

Under "Demographics", there should be information regarding the fact that the state population of Illinois was under-counted by approximately 250,000 people, when updated information was released by the Census Bureau two years later in 2022:

https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2022/05/2020-census-undercount-overcount-rates-by-state.html

Recommend editing the "Demographics" section to include information/disclaimer acknowledging the census undercounting by 1.97%, which would clearly indicate that the state population is actually above the 13 million threshold. 2443t5erer4 (talk) 00:44, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Population edit

The US Census Bureau has officially stated Illinois did not lose population at the 2020 census. The state's population grew by approximately 250,000 people, putting Illinois at over 13 million people for the first time in it's history. This means Illinois has never lost population at any ten-year census count. The question remains, why is Wikipedia using the incorrect data originally released by the Census Bureau for the state's population, but not using the corrected/revised data released by the Census Bureau several weeks later, when the Census Bureau admitted the original data was not accurate? If this were about New York City and the Census Bureau came back and stated the population went up and not down, I'm sure you guys would be quick to adjust that in its article. Other regions don't get the same consideration? Is Wikipedia playing favoritism? Wikipedia is an internet encyclopedia, it should strive to have the correct information in its articles. 2600:8801:131C:6F00:845A:9DF6:D4D6:EE88 (talk) 16:56, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
