Removed the bit about Michael Attwell's character being fired because of Michael Attwell's death, as Mr Attwell participated in the scenes where his character is dismissed and then leaves the hotel. I doubt that many scenes could be created digitally. kju 15:22, 9 May 2006 (UTC)#

What's It About? Synopsis Needed!

There's quite a lot of information about the programme in this article... except what it's about!

Someone should add a synopsis... setting, themes etc. I've never watched it so I can't help.

Deviation from normal storyline "cliffhangers"

Anyone who writes information about the show should mention that the show does not rely on cliffhangers to keep people coming back. There is of course the "and on next week's show..." but there have been ample opportunities for the writers to use cliffhangers (like at the end of the second series, where they could have left the fate of the hotel until next series) but they choose not to.

Series vs. Season?

Is there a good reason that seasons are referred to as series' throughout this page? I don't really keep up on British tv lingo, but typically the collection of episodes that airs during the series' first year is referred to as 'season 1', not 'series 1'.64.178.144.123 01:09, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

It's a BBC show so British lingo wins over American in this article.

'Series' and 'season' are not equivalent terms to most of the world. In the US, Australia, and for some British television shows, the word 'series' describes the show as a whole, including all episodes from all years. Episode List & Titles

I would be happy to write short episode descriptions for an episode list page, but have no clue of how to start one. Most TV shows have a link to a separate page, listing each episode with a short description, in that little box in the upper right of the article. This one does not. If someone begins one, I'd be happy to contribute, although admittedly only with the BBC America edits or online versions I can find. Also, does anyone know the titles of episodes, if they exist, or where to find them? --LKAdriaan 07:38, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

IMDB - usually a good authority on these matters - does not list any episode titles. See: [1]. Wouldn't be the only show that doesn't name their episodes. As for creating an episode list page, I'd just find some other show's episode list, copy the formatting, and just change the details. Lurlock 16:38, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I went ahead and did some other basic stuff like adding a category and a Navbox to the bottom. (Ripped off the one from Footballer's Wives, figured it was close enough.) I hope it meets general approval - I've never done this on Wikipedia before. (I'm an admin and major contributor on another wiki, but the rules are slightly different here.) Now of course, there's a bunch of red-links for all the character names (except Tanja Mihajlov of all people), so you can feel free to start on those as well. Season 4?

This[2] page (as mentioned in the article) says a 4th season has been commissioned, however the BBC Hotel Babylon page[3] makes it quite clear it's no longer being updated: "Where a particular radio, tv series or other BBC event has ended we generally leave the related web page online, just in case visitors may find it helpful or interesting in future. However, in order to avoid confusion we add a banner notice to the page to make it clear that we're no longer keeping these pages up to date." Sounds a lot more definitive than you'd expect from a series returning to the screen in 2009... Could it be that it's been cancelled after all? -- MiG (talk) 08:59, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Examples would include (from present series)- someone using a defibrilator without apparent training or basic safety proceedures; and another character resigning/being encouraged to leave because a role-playing exercise 'goes wrong' rather than having a post-scenario analysis with another character expecting to 'walk into the post.' Guest stars season 4

I removed 6 names from the list that I could not find in the BBC source (page 2 of the reference given) (Captain Peacock was a red flag). Those names were: Henry Siu, Ruby Turner, Curtis Neate, Captain Peacock, Lucy Liemann, Carlton Cole. There are more names listed in the BBC source than given on the wiki page.
