I've removed the first scheme because it was confusing; the text states that the less substituted alkene should form but the scheme says otherwise.

Something similar to http://www.organic-chemistry.org/namedreactions/hofmann-elimination.shtm

would be good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.171.6.249 (talk) 08:25, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reply. But what is the reason for showing the minor product rather than the major product? As I said, it's highly confusing and the scheme needs to be changed so that it's in line with the text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.241.170.43 (talk) 15:52, 13 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also I don't get what the alkene being symmetrical has to do with the selectivity? please explain, cheers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.241.170.43 (talk) 15:54, 13 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I have updated the image and the text so that should remove the confusion, please note that the main image only shows how the reaction proceeds. V8rik (talk) 16:56, 13 April 2008 (UTC) PS sign your comments by adding 4 tildes (~) in a row.Reply
