"second rear piano studio to be added, the first remaining in the living room at the front of the house
editDoes the library between the studios remain? The drawers of piano music in the rear studio? Mr Gustin was distributing books -- students to make a choice from the library -- back in the 1960s. If the library is maintained I am mildly inclined to return the book he gave me. Masalai (talk) 03:19, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
I wonder if it’s necessary...
edit... for the information about Mr. Gustin to be contained in an article on his house rather than him. Is it possible to mention two matters which Mr. Gustin used to tell us about, but as to which there is nothing here? 1. His summer cottage on a lake (which one?) north of Saskatoon in the forest. Years before my generation knew him in the 1960s students went there for a combination of study and holiday. 2. His friendship with the Australian-born (but actually hardly at all Australian) pianist and film performer Percy Grainger. My recollection is of Mr. Gustin telling us about Percy Grainger visiting the summer cottage. It would be preferable to put this question to the Gustin society but the email address they post on their website is not available to me here in Australia. Masalai (talk) 07:26, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, come to think of it a great many nationally and internationally eminent musicians were students or professional colleagues of Mr. Gustin. (His was an honorary doctorate: "Dr." is not used in addressing or referring to those so-honoured!) Is it not possible to mention some of them? Not only Percy Grainger but many others, including a great national musician originally from Prince Albert. And what IS the activity of the Museum these days? Mr Gustin gave me a book prize. I've long been in Australia and much though I prize it I cannot give it to my children in my will: I wasn't permitted to teach them piano though I bought one. Their mother was stoned by school classmates who caught her practising: it caused them to realise she was Jewish!Masalai (talk) 07:58, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
