It seems this article is overlumped, but I don't really know what goes where? Any reviews of the situation? FunkMonk (talk) 05:42, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Date of last identifiable skeleton edit
I'm interested to see the end date of survival has been changed from 3.6 mya to 1.2 mya. What was that based on? I'm asking about this particular genus, not gomphotheres in general. Macdonald-ross (talk) 18:38, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hey Macdonald-ross, the citation clarifying 1.2 MYA is noted with the introduction of China as one of the locations of its inhabitance- reference no. 4. SuperTah (talk) 11:53, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. For some reason I could not access that ref yesterday. Macdonald-ross (talk) 12:47, 2 June 2016 (UTC) P.s. Incidentally, the abstract references 1.7 mya. Macdonald-ross (talk)
- Not to worry! I refer you to Page 8, where the only overlapping range of time is 1.2 MYA in Liucheng Cave, where Gomphotherium was found, and the other two older, contemporary caves- 1.2 MYA is the oldest known date in Liucheng Cave, and since Gomphotherium is an antiquitous form, that is the date I used.
