It's been a while since I've visited this page. I'm sorry to see that it has lost quite a bit of its formerly NPOV text. I am a Gilmour alumnus, and I'm slightly ashamed to see what has become of the content here (and hopeful that it was not someone on Gilmour's faculty or staff making these clearly biased changes). It now reads like a brochure or press release, and I intend to restore it to an encyclopedic format following WP:NPOV guidelines. Regards, Fuscob (talk) 23:59, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup

I have just done a huge cleanup of the article, removing self-promotion, information that doesn't belong, and other stuff. What is the criteria for being a notable Gilmour graduate? I ask this because there is a person listed as a 'Snow Plow specialist' which doesn't sound particularly notable.SailorAlphaCentauri 08:11, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

History Tudor House, the historic mansion on campus that houses Gilmour's Admission, Advancement, Business, Communication and Marketing Offices was completed in 1924 after being commissioned by the founder of the Cleveland Foundry Co., Francis E. Drury. Drury built Tudor House (known then as Cedar Hill Farm) as a near-replica of his home on Downtown Cleveland Euclid Avenue's Millionaires' Row. Cedar Hill Farm was known to be the Drury country estate. Tudor House consists of 41 rooms and 14 fireplaces - each made with marble from a different country.In 1945, ten years after the deaths of Francis Drury and his wife Julia, Br. Theophane Schmitt and Br. Gonzaga Day of the Brothers of Holy Cross purchased Cedar Hill Farm. The Brothers oversaw the renovation of the property and founded Gilmour Academy named after Bishop Richard Gilmour, the second bishop of Cleveland.

As Gilmour Academy opened its doors, 45 boys were admitted as freshmen to become the first class at the academy as the Class of 1950. At that time, all classes were conducted in Tudor House where the students and the nine faculty brothers lived. In 1968, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart purchased 35 acres from Gilmour Academy and opened the all-girl Glen Oak School a year later. In 1974, Gilmour added a Middle School at the old St. Vincent Hall (now called Holy Cross House).

After 11 years of separate institutions, Br. Robert Lavelle (Headmaster of Gilmour Academy from 1979-2015) spearheaded the merger of Gilmour Academy and Glen Oak in 1982, making the class of 1983 the first co-ed class.Once Glen Oak was absorbed into Gilmour Academy, Gilmour transitioned that building into the Gilmour Lower School which today, houses 18-month olds through 6th Graders.

Do you have sources for all of those suggestions? Removing "North Coast League" isn't particularly controversial, but we're not going to add "known for its strong hockey ties" unless you can provide a reliable third-party source that establishes that.
