Speedy Deletion

I have no idea why an article for a program used by so many people, be given a SD tag for failing to meet notability. May someone please care to explain? - ShootinPutin109 Talk. 01:33, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Do you have any references? How does it pass notability requirements? -- Alexf(talk) 11:47, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Counter Strike 1.6

I have heard rumours that Garena not only supports 1.6 (As in 1.5 or lower), can someone clarify?Intake360 (talk) 15:04, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Maybe we just rename to Counter-Strike instead, I think.--Woad85 05:41, 6 January 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Woad85 (talkcontribs)

Did. Any objections to this can be put here99.244.247.244 (talk) 01:50, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Garena supports Counter-Strike 1.5, Counter-Strike 1.6, as well as Counter-Strike: Source. I've just loged in Garena and check out the supported game list. Livy the pixie (talk) 00:56, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

added a section

Suggested Games

A number of games are currently being added to Garena after a community suggestion referendum was held in June 2010.

I added that.--FifthCylon (talk) 00:10, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

How to edit without being biased?

It says under History that Garena 4.0 has been released, and that it is bug free/stable. ... which isn't true, but I can't really quote from my own experiences, now can I (even though I'm far from alone)? HalloniKanada (talk) 17:02, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

If an item is debatable and has no source, it can be challenged and removed. Since this article sites no third-party sources, I'm going to go ahead and remove it. If this becomes true and someone can find a reliable source for this material, feel free to add it back. Chris Fjordson 19:51, 24 October 2010 (UTC) WP:UNSOURCED

GArena is Illegal

It is used to play pirated games. The site disclaims these (who will? lol), but just google around and you will find lots of references. Why play on GArena where there's battle.net? becuase pirated wc3 won't work on battle.net but will work on garena. amazing it has been online so long without getting in trouble but sooner or later.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.15.94.62 (talk) 13:38, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

The fact is also that Garena provides a virtual LAN environment which reduces delay, something that is preferential to the majority of players that wish to play games with other players in different countries. The reason that Garena is being increasingly used by international tournaments is that it allows for less delay in international games. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.61.206.241 (talk) 11:12, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

LOL, pirated games is everywhere in my country, is rarely to find original games.--Woad85 09:23, 29 December 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Woad85 (talkcontribs)

People use iTunes to play downloaded music, does that make iTunes illegal too? HalloniKanada (talk) 17:03, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, indeed someone should write about this important part of garena on this article full of only good descriptions, anyway this certainly isn't npov article. Zazae (talk) 12:37, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Reads like a PR-campaign

The entire article reads like a PR-campaign. For instance:
"Launched in 2010, Garena+ has certainly taken the world by storm with the monthly active users surpassing the 1 million mark within the first year of its launch! Garena+’s popularity is not surprising, as it is a user-friendly interface that lets users get straight to playing the games in just a few clicks of the mouse."
Everything about those sentences has 'PUBLIC RELATIONS' written all over it. I'm also pretty bothered by the fact there are NO references cited.

Someone please scrap this article and rewrite it from scratch in a neutral POV. Or at least cull the PR parts. --86.89.213.102 (talk) 20:18, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

reads like an add

Any way to edit this article so it doesn't read like an advertisement?--24.171.6.27 (talk) 18:30, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Under the controversies on the original article...

Hey guys i'm not sure if this is how you use the talk page...but i had initially made a change to the controversies page by adding that "people had not initially been able to port over their NA accounts to SEA"

Well, its been rejected and i got an angry message, and whilst i think its great that wikipedia does have fast and stringent checks, its quite disheartening to see them delete stuff like that without even proper checking...

as far as i remember, since i've played the game since NA, when the server first came out the account porting system was not yet in available, which meant that everyone had to start at lvl 1, and it was only after opening for a decent amount of time that account transfer went through...

it is even more irritating that the message i received cited the latest account transfers as a reference, since it appears the moderators have no idea what the term "initially" means...

Ceddynator (talk) 10:27, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

"What you remember" isn't suitable for inclusion into the wikipedia article. Unless there are sourced references, it can't be put in. According to this page, account transfers were first announced even before closed beta ended, on 6 Jan 2011. Garena LoL moved to open beta on 11 Jan. Also, I transferred my own account over immediately after the game came out of closed beta, which is why I know for a fact that that is not true - transfers *were* initially available, and in fact the choice was there even before closed beta ended! (although transfers would only take effect after the closed beta phase concluded). You would not have succeeded if you had entered your data wrongly, however. So, what about during closed beta? Well, at the end of the closed beta phase, all accounts had all details wiped at the end of the beta except summoner level, thus rendering this point irrelevant - the closed beta phase was a test realm with all champions unlocked, and used for public bug-testing.

Before Garena LoL was released (ended beta), players were able to continue playing on NA via proxy. The instant Garena LoL ended closed beta, one could then get a transfer, which is what I did. I got my account transferred over as the first batch, almost immediately after the game was released. Therefore, there is no merit to the claim that players would have to "start from scratch at level 1".

P.S. It wasn't an 'angry' message. It was just a template. This is the way Wikipedia works - you can't insert your own thought and opinions, and everything has to be sourced. And trust me - I check very carefully. The onus is on the editor to provide a source - if there is no source, no matter how much one protests about 'checking', the edit is highly likely to be reverted. See Wikipedia:Citing sources.

In particular, sources are required for material that is challenged or likely to be challenged – if reliable sources cannot be found for challenged material, it is likely to be removed from the article.

In this case, you would need to provide a source for your claim, which did not exist. Do not let this discourage you from editing, but take this as a reminder that all controversial information must be sourced. If you cannot find a source, chances are good that you shouldn't add it in, as it can be taken to be original research, speculation or incorrect information. θvξrmagξ spellbook 18:29, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Still reads like an advertisement

The introduction reeks of an advertisement. Obviously, someone connected to Garena has been editing this and writing it as an advertisement. "Garena has seen unprecedented growth?" That's blatant advertising.

Heero Kirashami (talk) 00:02, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

This article reads so blatantly like an advertisement that I'm not sure it's even salvageable, and certainly not by me, I don't care enough about Garena or know enough about what it is beyond the fact that obviously a PR rep has given this a thorough makeover. Should this be deleted and rewritten?

Garena Free Fire

Wikipedia should have a page on Garena Free Fire, which is a battle royale game developed by 111dots studio. This game has been performing quite good on stores. As being playable on low-end devices, this game has been a easy favorite for players. I'm proposing here to create a new Wikipedia article about 'Garena Free Fire' Sazid 06:20, 5 March 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by SazidKabir (talkcontribs)

Garea = Sea Limited?

Did Garena really become Sea Limited or they are two different entities? If they are the same Garena should be redirected to Sea Limited. MRFazry (talk) 08:29, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

The listed company called Sea, also there is a news report on renaming of the company (from Garena to Sea) in the lede .[1] However, the website https://www.garena.sg/ https://www.garena.tw/ still exist. It seem the group still use Garena as business name and as the name of the subsidiaries, and it need discussion on changing the subject of the wiki article from Garena (the subsidiaries) to Sea Limited (the parent listed company), as well as the common name of the group. Obviously Sea is the official name but also an uncommon name compare to Garena . Matthew hk (talk) 15:21, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
