I would like to request edits of some factual material on the page but don't want to try to edit, because: (a) I work for Professor Stucky; (b) I have no confidence that I can edit correctly; (c) some of the changes might be unacceptable as "original research".

Should I put my list of edits in a Talk section or send a file somewhere?

Thank you. Wrath1219 (talk) 19:22, 26 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

You've properly disclosed your conflict of interest; thank you for that. This is the place to make that edit request, by posting here, with sources for the proposed edits. One or more editors like myself will give them a look and see what we can do. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:31, 26 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Orange Mike! I will put below my notes about the page contents. I have included outside, public sources when I know of them. But for some facts (like the date he moved to UCSB), I don't know of an outside source and rely on the bio and CV on his website (https://labs.chem.ucsb.edu/stucky/galen/stuckygroup/biography.html). In case it matters: Professor Stucky gave me permission to request corrections to the page but I have not consulted him about the details.

CW

1. In the introductory section, "Prince of Asturias Award"

If a citation is wanted here, there is a campus press release at https://www.news.ucsb.edu/2014/014200/royal-recognition. There is a list of previous recipients (https://www.fpa.es/en/tratarAplicacionPremiado.do) at the Prince(ss) of Asturias Foundation site, but a further search there on 'Stucky' is needed to find him.

2. In Notability, "He is also the co-chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN), A*STAR, Singapore[6] which is headed by Jackie Y. Ying (Executive Director of IBN[7] and adjunct professor of chemical engineering at MIT[8])."
This information is outdated. He was the co-chair of the IBN SAB from (approx.) 2008 to 2017 and a member starting in 2004. Jackie Ying is no longer the Executive Director of IBN (newspaper item at https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/two-top-scientists-to-step-down-from-key-astar-posts) and she no longer holds a position at MIT (link 8 is dead; see note under References).

3. In Education
(a) "in 1986"
He came to UCSB in July 1985.
(b) "E. Khashoggi Industries, LLC Professor in Letters and Science"
The name of the position was changed in 2016 to Khashoggi Chair in Materials Chemistry.
(c) "the Interdepartmental Program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology"
That program is now called the interdepartmental graduate program in Biomolecular Science and Engineering (https://www.bmse.ucsb.edu)

4. In Research group, "Alumni"
Peidong Yang must be notable since he has a Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peidong_Yang). But he was a postdoc (as noted in his page), not a graduate student, in the group, so maybe is not considered one of the alumni.

5. In References
[8] Dr. Ying's Wikipedia page is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Yi-Ru_Ying
[10] The current location of the Stucky Group website is https://labs.chem.ucsb.edu/stucky/galen/stuckygroup/. I don't know how long the redirect from the old location will persist.
[12] As noted on the page, this is a dead link. I don't know of an archive that includes it. If you wish, I can try to upload a (non-copyrighted) jpg file of a poster that was prepared for the occasion by some of the students. It can be seen at https://labs.chem.ucsb.edu/stucky/galen/stuckygroup/StuckyGroupTable.jpg or (with key) at https://labs.chem.ucsb.edu/stucky/galen/stuckygroup/periodictable.html
