Mistake?

the panorama picture is probably not taken in the 1880th but the 1980th. Is this a mistake? 85.177.94.162 (talk) 18:22, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Galata Tower (old)

Two editors, in 2007 and 2009 respectively, mentioned on the talk page of Galata Tower (old) that this stub should be merged into Galata Tower. I think it makes sense. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:31, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

respectfully OPPOSE -- these 2 towers share NOTHING but the name(s). there are not the same structure, did not have the same function, were neither contemporaneous nor built in "direct succession", & most importantly WERE NOT EVEN IN THE SAME LOCATION. the newer tower also has a distinct "proper name" (Christea Turris ((Tower of Christ)), NOT shared with the older structure. we could consider greater article-name differentiation between then, BUT the only thing that they have in common IS: that they were both towers built in galata & know as "the galata tower/megalos pyrgos"; & that's just not enough for them to be considered as "the same thing".
