Criticism section needed

edit

I beleive a criticism should be added. Recently, I read Hudson, Ohio school district had to close-down for a day due to First Student being unorganized. I've heard of this happening in other districts aswell; one of these should be sourced and made into a criticism section.JakeH07 (talk) 01:46, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

This section needs to be to re-written a bit; from what it looks like, it has been added to every time First Student has been in the news. This is leading to some fairly obvious NPOV issues for the whole article. If this section is to stay, it needs to be toned down a bit so the rest of the content can have its fair share. --SteveCof00 (talk) 09:45, 15 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge

edit

This article is one of three aticles about the operations of First Student, a subsidiary of First Group in one of three geographies. Each article lacks context and should be merged into a single article with three sections.

Fixing Controversy Section

edit

Currently, it is taking over the article and is not allowing for the rest of content to be added onto. While I'm not in support of eliminating it (similar subsections exists in other articles about companies); I don't think it should be added onto every time a news story involving the company is released. There are other places on the Internet for that. As it sits, this article needs some attention. --SteveCof00 (talk) 18:47, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's way too long at this point. It's more than twice as long as the rest of the article. I'm fairly certain this is a violation of Wikipedia's Undo Weight policies. We should definitely work on trimming it down. –BMRR (talk) 13:13, 28 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Controversy Section Deleted

edit

The controversy section was deleted from the article, as it brought many neutrality questions into the entire article itself. Sure, many of those issues may have been controversial and may need to be heard, but Wikipedia is NOT the place for that to happen. There wasn't any blatant original research, but "overtly slanted" towards one view is not how articles are (supposed to be) written. With all the news stories gone, it can be easier to give attention to the remaining content that describes the company itself. This is what the casual reader (who may not be familiar with the school bus industry) is likely most interested in learning about. Etc etc. --SteveCof00 (talk) 07:20, 2 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Merging can work

edit

This proposal has been up for nearly 2 years (it's been unsigned), but I think it's a good idea if done correctly. If anything, it will simplify the disambiguation page. I would suggest merging this page and its Canadian counterpart into a combined article; the more-complete UK article should remain freestanding. The US and Canada articles have a format that compliments each other better. --SteveCof00 (talk) 08:06, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

To clarify, there is no such thing as First Student (United States), it should just be First Student (the first First Student), and the others are properly named independent parts of First Group, with First Student Canada being the dominant part of First Canada. The official divisions of First America are First Student, First Canada, First Transit, First Services and Greyhound. Each of those divisions has its own internal subsidiaries. If you wish to reorganize those article make sure they fit with the corporate plan not how you imagine the might fit together. Secondarywaltz (talk) 14:52, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I bring this up again after a lot of years. Do we need disambiguation here when "First Student" apply to American company and other have Canada or UK in official name. Martin Morin (talk) 18:30, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

quick COI edit request

edit

Hi! I work for a communications firm that represents Zonar and have a tiny COI edit request: Could we please wikilink the mention of Zonar in this article? Currently the Zonar Systems article is an orphan. Thanks! Mary Gaulke (talk) 21:14, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
