Note about the Aye-aye

edit

According to all the latest genetic studies, the Aye-aye is still considered to be a lemur. It is the most basal member of the lemur clade, meaning it was the first group to diverge after the island was colonized by the lemur ancestor. The lemuriform and lorisiform taxonomy is a mess due to competing taxonomies, but these conflicts have nothing to do with phylogeny. It's more of a question about where to draw lines between infraorders and superfamilies. See Lemur evolutionary history for more information. – VisionHolder « talk » 20:02, 13 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

"fauna known in native Malagasy tradition"

edit

I don't quite understand the addition of this new section. Wolfman, would you please explain what you had in mind by adding this here? I'm sure the Malagasy were well aware of the animals living around them (many of which they exploited for food). Could this section be renamed or better incorporated into existing sections to reduce redundancy? And the source (a blog) is not especially "high quality and credible." It would be preferable to track down another source. Lemurbaby (talk) 11:02, 18 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
