Updating Release Dates

Hi all! So, pop-quiz. What is the problem with statements such as "Movie X will be released January 2012"? The answer is, of course, that, on here, said date often comes and goes, without anyone modifying the wording! I honestly don't know to avoid this. I went through and changed the wording for currently released, 2012 movies. The only exception is "Red Lights," which will be released in about a day. I wrote about it as though it had been released, If anyone takes issue with this - Fine! Change it back. But that will make it your problem to re-revert in a day and a half =) Cheers, "Yes...It's Raining" 00:28, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Mary-Kate & Ashley Videos

She was in many of the Olsen twins' videos and had a small part in their movie "How the West Was Fun", but she isn't credited for these. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Olsentwinluv4ever (talkcontribs) 02:13, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Image

Down the road, an image of the actress should be put in the infobox as she is becoming well-known with her movie roles. Senjuto 18:07, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Nudity

Under "Career", there is a sentence mentioning her being nude in a film. I can't see how this is relevant to her career or why it is in the interest of people reading this article. Skegg (talk) 02:27, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

I agree, it has no relevance. I'm removing it Yb2 (talk) 00:16, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Who's McKenzie?

As written, we are told, "Her father remarried McKenzie." There is, however, no prior or subsequent mention of a first marriage nor who McKenzie may be other than someone, apparently, twice married to Mr. Olsen. This is, at least, grammatically weak and may be factually misleading. Czrisher (talk) 14:21, 19 November 2013 (UTC) Yes. Just noticed this, more than five months later, uncorrected. Olsen publicist! Fixing this is a part of your job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frazierdp (talkcontribs) 05:57, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Singer?

The introduction to this article says Olsen is a singer, yet there is no reference to any musical works in the article. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 22:10, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

I've removed that since there were no references or any article content supporting it. Snuggums (talk / edits) 20:48, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
She sings a couple songs in Very Good Girls so I guess she's featured in the film's CD. I agree this doesn't qualify as being a singer. I always find wrong when Wikipedia's biographic introductions characterize somebody too inclusively, mentioning an activity that often represents 1% of the reasons why that person is known for on the same level as their main career path. Kumagoro-42 18:25, 3 September 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kumagoro-42 (talkcontribs)

Age

Why was her birth year moved to 1990? It's reported as 1989 in every other readily available source (IMDb, Google). Where did 1990 come from? Kumagoro-42 18:19, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

A edit request to add to Olsen's upcoming roles in 2017, Ingrid Goes West starring her and Aubrey Plaza and also Kodachrome with her and Jason Sudeikis.

Not done Per WP:CRYSTAL John from Idegon (talk) 02:54, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Why are my edits being declined by a user? My information is 100% accurate. He marks as "Not done" but did not specify further.

I would like to know what isn't done about it and what I can do to have it approved. Awaiting reply, thank you. JakeContribution (talk) 18:34, 7 September 2016 (UTC)JakeContribution — Preceding unsigned comment added by JakeContribution (talkcontribs) 16:56, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

There is a wikilink to the explanation. Also, save your text for the body of the section. Your section headers are inappropriate. You don't put the entire text of a novel on the cover. John from Idegon (talk) 19:45, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

I'll keep that in mind. Can I have said WikiLink? JakeContribution (talk) 00:19, 8 September 2016 (UTC)JakeContribution

Edits of 9/10/16

Ok to avoid an edit war, we should talk in a civil manner as to what we can do about our disagreement. Now I see you are against my addition of Olsen's 2 upcoming films and I am still not aware as to why. I hope we can resolve this peacefully. JakeContribution (talk) 14:02, 11 September 2016 (UTC)JakeContribution

I've pulled Ingrid Goes West - I can't find anything that says it's filming. Kodachrome though I kept as the source specifically mentions a filming date. Tabercil (talk) 16:35, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Please allow me to cite my sources to get it re-added - [1] [2] JakeContribution (talk) 08:32, 12 September 2016 (UTC)JakeContribution

Alma mater: "Tisch School of the Arts"?

I'm wondering about this as I've seen it on numerous articles, but it strikes me as improper to list people's alma mater as the specific school they attended within an institution; Tisch School of the Arts is the performance school of New York University, and thus, NYU is technically a person's alma mater if s/he graduated from there. In short, Tisch itself is not an institution, and per W: Infobox person, "the last attended higher education institution" belongs here. Therefore, her alma mater should be written as New York University. Thoughts on this? I've especially noticed this in the infoboxes of actors who are graduates of NYU's Tisch school. --Drown Soda (talk) 01:15, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Avengers: Endgame (2019) is not the highest-grossing film of all time anymore

In the "Career" section of the article, it is stated that "She reprised the role in the Captain America: Civil War (2016), as well as the sequels Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), the lattermost of which became the highest-grossing film of all time." The section "the lattermost of which became the highest-grossing film of all time" should be removed as Avengers: Endgame (2019) is not the highest-grossing film of all time anymore. This is due to the film Avatar (2009) being re-released in China, which increased its box office total to $2.814 billion. This overtook the previous record, held by Avengers: Endgame (2019), of $2.797 billion.

Hey, I'm going to be reviewing this article. Expect comments by the end of the week. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 20:11, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Infobox and lead

  • Per MOS:ORDER, hatnotes should go right below the short description.
Done Chompy Ace 02:01, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
  • "Award among other awards" sounds repetitive. Maybe "accolades"?

Early life and education

  • "in musical theatre camp" → "in a musical theatre camp"
    • I'm not sure this holds the same meaning. The reference does not specify that it was one camp; I think the intention was to generally say she spent time attending camp the way people would say they went to sleep-away camp as children. I also believe the appropriate phrasing is at camp as opposed to in camp, so I made the change. I hope this suffices. KyleJoantalk 02:43, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
  • This source (#12) does not mention Campbell Hall School.
    • I replaced the Marie Claire ref with The Hollywood Reporter, but I couldn't find a source that verifies for what grades she was there, so I removed that part. KyleJoantalk 02:43, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
  • Shouldn't "Off-Broadway" be written as off-Broadway in the article?

Career

  • Distribute the 3 references after Endgame.
  • "comedy drama" → "comedy-drama"
  • Distribute the sources after "slyly sympathetic".
  • The references after "respective reviews" should be swapped (NPR before Vox).

Personal life and acting credits

  • "Olsen stated" sounds off and the grammar tool I'm using marks it as an error - reword?
    • I changed the phrasing to neutrally state that she has been an atheist since the quote already lets readers know that she made a statement about it. KyleJoantalk 02:43, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
  • Change "Girl In Car" to simply "Girl in car" per MoS.
Done Chompy Ace 02:03, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
  • Other than that, the one-paragraph sentence and the filmography table look good.

Awards and nominations

  • WP:SMALLTEXT says the text font should not be made small in tables. For accessibility purposes, I suggest making the small notes actual notes.[Note 1]

References

  • All 92/92 sources are archived.
  • #20 is missing an author.
    • The Daily Telegraph ref does not list an author. Maybe I'm missing it? KyleJoantalk 02:43, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
      •   Done Yep, I missed it. I was looking at an archived link that did not contain the author's name. Sorry about that! KyleJoantalk 02:47, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
  • #23, #68, #74, and #76 are missing access-dates.
  • Links to Vulture should go to Vulture (website) per WP:NOTBROKEN.

Marriage?

  • The Cut: Absolutely nothing is confirmed at this juncture, save for the fact that Olsen made an offhand comment suggesting she may have gotten married at some point.[1]
  • Entertainment Tonight: Did Elizabeth Olsen get married? That's what fans are thinking, after she referred to Robbie Arnett as her "husband."[2]
  • People: Elizabeth Olsen is sparking marriage speculation after casually referring to fiancé Robbie Arnett as her "husband" in a new interview.[3]

Sounds like gossip and speculation. KyleJoantalk 04:51, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

Semi-requested edit on 16 June 2021

The information of the spouse info in the Infobox person should be formatted: Robbie Arnett (m. 2021) since they got married. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:5290:2EB0:E196:4EB1:FF21:58DB (talk) 15:23, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

{{Done}}. Thanks for suggesting. –Novem Linguae (talk) 17:19, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Not done. While I was careful to check that there were multiple reliable sources for BLP purposes, looks like I forgot to verify the year. The two sources in the article do not include the year, so it is a bit too soon to include the marriage year. –Novem Linguae (talk) 04:17, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

The articles didn't see Lizzie & Robbie wear wedding rings on 2019-2020, so it's obvious they got married on 2021. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8081:3e02:a4b6:c4c7:85a6:77e8:52d3 (talkcontribs)

Sounds like WP:OR. We need to be careful of WP:OR because historically it has led to errors. We can't just assume that someone always wears a ring on their ring finger when they are married, and never wears one when they are not. I can think of a counter-example already. As an encyclopedia, we pass the buck to journalists, authors, and other trusted folks who write WP:SECONDARY sources to figure this out for us, and then we cite that. –Novem Linguae (talk) 02:58, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
