Assessment comment

edit

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Economy of West Bengal/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

The comments about "work culture" reveal an obvious political bias and are unsubstantiated. Other unsubstantiated claims include those that allege that West Bengal has "fallen behind" the rest of India, which indeed contradict other claims in the article that West Bengal has the third highest rate of growth of any Indian state.

Comparing sources on GDSP

edit

Alright, so far I've seen two sources for GDP/GDSP of West Bengal:

  • IBEF.org, cited in the infobox, says the "GDSP of West Bengal at current prices" for 2020-2021 is $206.7 billion USD or 14.4 trillion Rs, plain as day in the graph at the top. This is further sourced to MOSPI.
  • Page 31 of This PDF, from the WBFIN.nic.in link provided in earlier comments, lists the "GSDP Estimates at Constant Prices in West Bengal for Base: 2011-12" for 2020-21 as 802726 Rs.Crore. I think that works out to 8 trillion Rs, which is 109 billion USD or so. The source is listed as "BAE&S, Deptt. of Planning and Statistics, Govt. of West Bengal".

I am unsure of where this disparity stems from (perhaps cumulative inflation, if one is using base currency values from ten years ago). I have not yet dug any further. However, I wanted to start an actual discussion of the matter. pauli133 (talk) 10:39, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Well, look at that: inflationtool.com indicates that 8t Rs in 2011 were equivalent to 14.3t Rs in 2020 - pretty darn close to the first reference. pauli133 (talk) 10:51, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Gdp is actually 226 billion, not 220, please update it

edit

In 2022, 1 USD = 75-77 inr If west bengal have a gdp of 17.13 trillion inr.! Then roughly estimated gdp in USD billion is 76000 lakh core inr = 10 billion USD 760000 lakh core inr = 100 Billion USD 760000+ 760000 lakh core inr = 1520000 lakh core inr = 200 billion USD dollars roughly And by estimated budget of Bengal is around 1713000 lakh core inr So 1713000- 1520000 = roughly 190000 lakh core extra / 6 billion extra So the final gdp is 226 billion dollar in 2022 Wbanix (talk) 01:35, 25 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

GSDP per capita now 2228

edit

In 2022 west bengal have a population of 101.4 million, So if we have a gdp of 226 billion dollars, Then gdp per capita should be = total gdp / population So, answer is 2228 now Wbanix (talk) 08:28, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
