Hoaxes edit

Any discussions about hoax games for E3 2017 will be deleted on the spot. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 19:56, 17 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Developer Digital edit

That could hardly be called a press conference. Would anyone object to removing the section? Gestrid (talk) 06:55, 12 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

E3 social media information edit

Sergecross73, here's some information from Brandwatch on what happened on social media as companies announced various games and features. Pinging you since no one seems to be keeping an eye on this talk page. Gestrid (talk) 10:48, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Platform consistency edit

A couple recent edits show a possible problem of consistency. For Minecraft as the example, the expo didn't necessarily announce any new version, but stressed cross-platform play between PC, Xbox, Switch, and mobile, with no mention of PS4 (which has been discussed elsewhere). In terms of what we should then list its platforms for, should the PS4 be included since it already exists but simply wasn't part of the news, or should be excluded? We're not being consistent here when you compare to, say, Skyrim, which we list the existing platforms (all before E3) plus the announcement that Switch was getting it too (the new platform).

I don't think it makes sense to make this type of distinguishing aspect here, because you can get into cases where, again with Minecraft, while the PS4 version wasn't mentioned at the show, the game was still there. The only thing I would suggest if that we do want to designate new platforms showcased at E3, then we can bold those in the list. Eg, Undertale would be ( PC / PS4 / Vita ) and Skyrim ( PC / PS4 / Switch / Xbox One) --MASEM (t) 20:03, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • The reason I re-added those platforms for Minecraft is because the announcements affected those particular platforms. I did not realize PS4 wasn't discussed at the show. It's possible that's not true, so we should remove just the PS4 bit to avoid circular referencing by journalists. Gestrid (talk) 22:10, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • The issue is that it looks disingenuous to ignore a platform that a game previously came out on but just happened to not be the subject of discussion at E3. If I wasn't aware of Undertale, for example, it looks like a PS exclusive, which of course it is not. I think it is important to identify new platforms, while also assuring old platforms are listed and thus keeping the bolded approach I suggested. --MASEM (t) 22:16, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
      • It's not disingenuous, because the section is games that were featured at E3 2017. Minecraft for PS4 was not featured. It's not, as of E3, receiving any of the new updates or features that were revealed at E3. PS4 is also far from the only platform not listed that Minecraft exists on. I think it would actually be disingenuous to include it, as that would imply that the E3 2017 news regarding Minecraft involves platform, which it does not. -AnonWikiEditor (talk) 00:53, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
        • Which is why I suggest adding a bolded text to the platform lists for existing games with new information on a previously unreleased platform, rather than excluding them. That captures both the platforms it was on an the featured ones. --MASEM (t) 02:09, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
