As it was edit

This natural land drainage is an aspect of Geography or Geomorphology and needs to be distinguished from such other drainage systems as surgical drainage, sewerage, storm drains, katabatic winds and fen drainage.(RJP 21:28, 23 May 2005 (UTC))Reply

Not sure what the picture has to do with the drainage systems mentioned - or at least its relevance is not explained--Superbfc 18:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I assume the picture is supposed to show a radial drainage pattern, so I added that to the caption. It isn't the best graphic for showing drainage, but at least the caption is clearer now. As for distinguishing this page from other types of drainage systems -- if there are wikipedia pages on surgical, sewer, etc, drainage systems, we could make a disambiguation page. But it doesn't seem like there are other pages contending for the name... so, til then... Pfly 06:55, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

hopefully people arent thrown off by the spelling in the caption.. i mean, i think it's pretty radical, but thats not exactly a scientific adjective. ha ha poop.

12 June 2007 edit

From Roland 11:23, 12 June 2007 (UTC) . I have put "(Geomorphology)" behind the first definition of "drainage system" and added some information on "agricultural drainage systems".Reply

Alternative drainage system diagrams edit

I've displayed the diagrams in each subsection, instead of just giving links. There are alternative diagrams available on Commons too, shown below. -- Avenue (talk) 09:00, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removal of section on "annular drainage system" edit

The following was removed from the article (14:03, 14 February 2007).

Annular drainage system edit

Annular drainage systems are arranged in ring-shaped patterns around a central basin.

Why should it not be in the article? -- Wavelength (talk) 06:28, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

More Changes edit

Hello! As you can see on the main article, I have edited the texts of the first two types of drainage (one needed a whole rewrite while another had a wrong reference). These were subsequently fixed. Also, I have added another reference -- Mr. Ritter's textbook, which you can click here: [1]. This is a very reliable source of information and is used in many universities. You may find this link useful for other Earth Science articles on Wikipedia as well.

I hope you find this helpful.

Drainage system (geomorphology)Drainage pattern – As per short description and section titles. Drainage patterns is a related original title. Also for natural disambiguation with Drainage system (agriculture). Finally, notice this article could well have a different suffix, Drainage system (hydrology). fgnievinski (talk) 02:35, 4 December 2023 (UTC) fgnievinski (talk) 02:35, 4 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting.  — Amakuru (talk) 23:10, 11 December 2023 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). – Joe (talk) 08:24, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment - relisting this with permission from Extorc per discussion here: [2]  — Amakuru (talk) 23:10, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - per Joe Roe's comment - "anecdotally, drainage system is way more common and the current article does not use drainage pattern synonymously". There is a clear lead for drainage system in ngrams. [3]  — Amakuru (talk) 23:12, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
