Origin of the name

does the name of the song actually came from hitchhiker's? the cited reference only speculates "the title...is likely lifted from British mock sci-fi classic The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, despite the fact that the song has nothing to do with it". Does anyone knows if this information has been confirmed by coldplay?--Chnt (talk) 02:34, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Best to leave it out entirely if a link can't be cited. The term "don't panic" existed long before "Hitchhiker's" and is no doubt used by people unaware of the book/movie's existence. In fact, as it stands it's nothing but Original Research, which is not allowed in Wikipedia. As such I've removed it, but if someone finds a quote from the band they may re-add it.

In fact, the origin of the name suggests it ISN'T named after the book in Adams' novel. HelpnWP (talk) 00:09, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
