The name sphenopalatine ganglion is only used in lower vertebrates, because most of these do not have a pterygopalatine fossa. In these animals the gnnglion is located in the lower medial part of the orbita --Morten Møller (talk) 15:50, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
