I removed the section commenting on possible Tekken 6 storyline material since I thought both endings were sufficiently ambiguous; they could very well both be made canon. This kind of discussion belongs in a Tekken forum anyway, not an encyclopedia. Aspect 03:45, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

Mutzilla and King Zeal edit

I'd recommend you both stop editing each other's changes. Solve your disagreements here in the discussion page, not the article itself.

There's no "disagreement" on my part. Mutzilla was just simply hellbent on vandalizing the page. I tried reverting it as much as I could, but after it got redundant, I called it a night. King Zeal 14:25, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
However, for the sake of argument, let me address the subject of the revisions. First of all, there exists NO official canon for Tekken 5 yet. Mutzilla claims that Craig's ending is "Non-Canon" because the Marduk/King rivalry requires more than two games to resolve. Obviously, this is opinion. Secondly, there is no "official" tier information to my knowledge. Tiers are fan creations, not official. Also, they are a result of popular thinking, and can change constantly depending on tournament results. King Zeal 14:30, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Craig Marduk - Bob Sapp edit

I suppose if I added the easy circumvent "Many people say" - then Megaman Zero would have left the Bob Sapp trivia. Just check Raven's Wesley Snipes trivia; It has never been admitted by Namco to avoid any possible legal actions and is exactly the same case as with King (Tiger Mask), Law (Bruce Lee) and Marduk (Bobb Sapp). Everybody knows the obvious references and there is no need to cite sources to include mention of them in Wikipedia.

Oh there isn't...? Check our policies. Contrary to this assumption, the Weasly Snipes comparison was discussed with Namco. This wasn't. In paticular, check WP:NOR. -ZeroTalk 17:26, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Nonsense. This is not in the least an example of 'citing sources' or "discussing" it with Namco they would NEVER confirm it and what actually happened in this 'discussion' is a journalist mentioned the similarity to them and they shrugged it off.
What about Tiger Mask? What about Bruce Lee? If you don't like it because it isn't officially cited, delete the similarities from King and Law's pages because they never will be either
We all know Law came from Bruce Lee. The yellow jumpsuit, the bird-like yelling, the spastic movements, etc. I would, however, be glad to remove the King information. -ZeroTalk 22:14, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well you would do wrong. You shouldn't remove any of it. The pages should all cite the influences. Does it have to be that blatant for you to realise where Namco get their inspirations from. It is only you that is disputing any of this. Do you actually want me to list all similarities between Bob Sapp and Marduk? Because I can see the only reason you don't like it, is because you can't see it. Raven, King, Marduk and Law's trivia should all have the influences. I have talked to lots of people who think the same about Marduk, but just because you have never heard it, you don't like it being there. One of the most important things about fighting game characters is where th developers got their influences. Lei being based on Jackie Chan, Law - Bruce Lee, Marduk - Bob Sapp, King - Tiger Mask, Bass Armstrong - Hulk Hogan, El Blaze - Rey Mysterio, etc etc. Some people may look at Lei Oolong's page and not realise the Jackie Chan similarities, but they are very important to know. And as for the Bob Sapp/Marduk argument - Anybody who has seen both Bob Sapp and the Marduk character in action, will instantly see the obvious similarities. Plus, Bob Sapp is hugely popular in Japan - both in real fights (UFC style) and in wrestling (where he performs the Jackhammer suplex, spear followed by the mount to his opponents exactly like in the game), his large frame, his attire, his fighting style (Vale Tudo). The list is endless - I am 100% certain Namco used Bob Sapp as their main influence for Marduk, and of course it isn't just me who thinks so. It is mentioned all over the place from websites to forums to magazines. --Mr.bonus 16:56, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
No problem. Then it would be a simple matter of locating a source for this obvious basis of creation. -ZeroTalk 21:31, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't need sources. You find the sources where Namco themselves explain how they borrowed from Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Wesley Snipes then. It can't be done they wouldn't discuss it because they have to protect themselves. This is the last thing I'm going to say on this topic; "I'd be happy to delete the Tiger Mask info"... You know what that says to me? That you are only adamaent about this because you've never heard that Marduk is based on Bob Sapp. The Tiger Mask info is just about the single most important piece of information to be on King's page. Normal people would see the character and think "a wrestler in a furry, animal mask? that's a bit weird..." and may turn to Wikipedia for answers, where they will discover that something this specific rarely comes about without an influence. To remove this info is absurd. The reason you are 'happy' to do this? Because you don't really know who Tiger Mask is. Just sweep it under the bed then. Most people, unless Japanese or fans of the media he appeared in, have to go searching in order to find out about Tiger Mask, it isn't something they are already aware of (exactly the same is also true of Bob Sapp). So unless the influence on Namco's part came from something mainstream in western culture and that you have seen (Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan or Blade), it doesn't warrant mention? The point of an encyclopaedia is to tell people things they didn't already know. And that applies to the editors who foolishly omit information from its pages too.--Mr.bonus 12:36, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? edit

His style is said to be Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Is Marduk's style of MMA really considered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in any way? Only thing I see that could be considered BJJ is the mount position and counters that put the opponent into mount position which could even be considered Judo in some ways. All I really think Marduk's style is Mixed Martial Arts and not Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So, unless someone tells me otherwise, I believe that the BJJ part should be removed. Voice actors edit

Who are his voice actors? In Tekken 5, he sounds like John DiMaggio. - The 4th Snake 17:54, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
