Dates, name edit

According to {{Butt-Stations}}, p. 67, the station name was "Commercial Docks"; it opened in May 1856, and closed 1 January 1867. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:21, 11 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Further: why is the discussion on the station name in the article, and not here? --Redrose64 (talk) 21:09, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Cos no editor, including yourself at an earlier edit, has thought a move was needed, but move if you consider the "discussion", which is rather a statement with sources that there is doubt about the name, warrants it. That A, B and C say this and X,Y,Z say that shows there is some doubt and that what is written at a distance from an event, no matter how august the writer, may be wrong and that such sources may perpetuate some earlier error. Rather than 'tis/'tisn't, evidence needs finding from e.g. newspapers and timetables.--SilasW (talk) 11:45, 5 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Could be some help Edgepedia (talk) 13:46, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have added a reference to the Board Of Trade report on an accident which took place near the station on 15 December 1860. As it happens the text of the report includes a letter from the Secretary of the South Eastern Railway which confirms that the station name was Commercial Dock, and not Commercial Docks.WizardOfTheNorth (talk) 13:45, 7 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
